• Saffron – Emma Watson. Saffron is 17 and a straight ‘A’ student. She has few friends and those she does have don’t understand what she is goingthrough. Gets left alone, turns recklessand begins getting bullied and turns suicidal.

I chose Emma Watson as I feel she could play the roll well as she is very intellectual, yet from her last film (Bling ring) proves she could play a bit of a ‘bad girl’. She is also a well known British actress.

• Dad (Kevin) – Johnny Depp.Kevin is Saffron and Sophie’s dad. He’s in his early 40’s and struggling to over come the troubles with his alcoholic daughter.

I chose Johnny Depp to play the roll of the dad as he is a well loved actor, with fans all around the world, giving the film a wider range of audience.

• Freddie - Logan Lerman. Freddie is in Saffron’s class and is passionate about music. He transferred from America so is a bit on an outcast. He is often found in the music room with Mr. Lucas learning a new instrument or improving his skills.

I chose Logan Lerman to play Freddie as he is a young attractive actor appealing to a young female audience. He is widely known for his role as Percy Jackson, thus making him a good candidate for the roll.

• Sophie – Lily Cole. Alcoholic and has been for several years. 24 years old.

I chose Lily to play Sophie as she is British and she has a look about her which appealed to me to play the role in which I have chosen her for.

• Mr. Lucas – Tom Hiddleston. Saffron and Freddie’s music teacher. Helps Saffron.

I chose Tom Hiddleston as he is British and a fabulous actor, pulling of his role of Loki in the popular superhero movies Thor and Avengers Assemble amazingly. He also has a friendly feel to him, which is required for the role of Mr. Lucas.

Saffron’s ‘Friends’ • Rosy – Chloe Moretz. Saffron’s best childhood friend. I chose her as she is well known and is the correct age.

• Gemma - Felicity Jones. Saffron’s friend from school. I chose her as she is British and again is the correct age.

Plot. During her struggle with her mothers death, Sophie Mason turned to alcohol to drown her troubles. This addiction lands her in hospital multiple times and soon begins tearing her family apart. Further ripping open the wounds which were slowly healing from their mothers death. Five years on from when the addiction began her problem is at an all time high when she was at a friends house and he gave her alcohol, after her being clean for a week. She ended up downing a whole lot and falls, her head is bleeding, she is laying in her own sweat, blood, urine and vomit. The friend doesn't’t know what to do so calls her fiancé, who arrives and quickly calls an ambulance. This time it is serious. Her sister is now 17 and old enough to understand fully how serious the situation is and realizes she was hours away from losing her sister. She then deals with the situation by becoming reckless. Her grades quickly drop and she is repeatedly getting into trouble in and out of school. She begins doing stuff which usually she would never have done, sleeping around and experimenting in drugs. All the while her dad is struggling to deal with everything that is happening and has trouble keeping his job as he finds himself becoming angry all the time. Her friends leave her and she begins to get badly bullied, soon becoming suicidal and she finds the only person she can talk to is her music teacher, Mr. Lucas. He sits with her often and helps her overcome her struggles using the power of music. Much to Saffron’s distaste he pairs her up with Freddie, a nerdy boy of whom she cannot stand. She is unkind to him and refuses to do anything he tells her. She walks over to the music room to see Mr. Lucas when she over hears Freddie and him talking about how Freddie is worried about her and isn’t sure this competition is the best thing for her to be doing. Saffron feels bad and is determined to prove him otherwise. She puts effort in and soon find Freddie becoming her muse. Eventually they fall for each other and win the competition. Sophie is now one year sober.

• I chose this story as the plot to my film as many of the subjects are a huge problem in Britain e.g. bullying, alcohol, suicide etc…

• I got inspiration from a problem I have had in my life and exaggerated it to be fit for the ‘big screen’ adding elements which many British teenagers go through.

• By using a variety of British and American actors I feel that the film will appeal to a wider range of audience.

• The film cab be classed as a British made film as I used some British actors and British crew (Director, producer etc…) It was also funded by a British company.

• I chose to film it in London as it is a typical British location.
