Our teaser trailer will last around 1 minute – typical of most teaser trailers to be short in length in order to create hype and excitement for the film.

We aim to film around 30 minutes of footage which will give us enough footage to be able to cut down and edit when producing our teaser trailer.

USPIn order to make our film different from most other horror films, we have decided to incorporate the following features in order to create the film’s USP:

The use of a ordinary average household and family – relatable to our viewers (target audience) and prime location.

Using real home videos to make it realistic Sub genre of supernatural.

Similar Horror Front Covers/posters.

These film posters would be similar to our horror film as each of them show a young child as the main protagonist. The Paranormal Activity 4 poster used a handheld camera for the main image, which is what we plan to do throughout the film. The Orphan and The Grudge main protagonist is using direct address, which attracts the audience and makes it look more scary and is what our group are planning to use for our front cover.

Similar horror front covers/posters.

These front covers/posters are similar to what our groups will be like as on The Blair Witch Project they used a handheld camera for the main image which our group will be using throughout our trailer. Case 39 and The Others both have similar front covers, the main protagonists face is lit up by a light and both their facial expressions are nervous like they’re expecting something to happen.

Masthead Ideas

These are the 5 different fonts that we have shortlisted from www.dafont.com. As part of our planning, we will be conducting an online poll posted on all our yola sites, asking members of our target audience to select their favourite typography for the film masthead. In doing this, we will be gaining feedback from the people who will be interested in our film whilst making them involved in the planning of this new and exciting horror film.

Location Ideas

We have decided to use just the one central location of an isolated house as this will be where all the action will take place.

Shots of the surroundings will also be used. From looking at similar horrors to ours, we

noticed that they also use the one main location where everything happens.

Page 14: Film pitch

Visual Aesthetics: Trailer

Camera shots such as close up, master shots, point of view to create tension and fear as audiences watch the trailer.

Dark, gloomy shadows and lightening to evoke fear in the audience

Fast pace editing adding intensity of viewing

Marketing USP As part of our marketing campaign, we are going

to create a QR code which you scan on most mobile phones. The code that is scanned creates

‘The Unseen scene’ app for phones. Within the app, people will be able to create their

own horror film clip based on our film. E.g. pick their own characters

The app also allows you to record your own voice and create your own scary ring tone.

The app will also give you a certain password and if used in the exclusive time period, it will take 15% off the price of the film at the cinema.

Publishers Who do we want to publish our film?

Why?

• UK media company, creating and distributing commercially driven independent cinema – suitable for our film.

• Smaller company – wouldn’t be competing with high budget films of similar genre.

• Well built brand reputation• The Unseen would fit will within their product portfolio• Similar films to ours – however ours would be unique in that it has…

Films similar to the ‘The Unseen’ that the company have produced and distributed.

Analysis of feedback – Focus Group

Conducted a small focus group, presenting 3 horror trailers similar to the trailer we aim to produce.

Audience were given a handout with a series of questions.

After the viewings of the trailers, questions were asked in order to gain feedback and suggestions about our own ideas.

Page 21: Film pitch

Our Film Budget For our teaser trailer, we have a very limited budget so

we have had to cut costs to almost nothing. Camera provided. Actors who are willing to work for free. Our own sounds and music we do not need rights to

use. Special Effects: Premiere Pro Free costume and make-up We are the directors. The only cost we will have to consider in production is

transport to locations.
