FILM TRAILERS FOR FILMS I

ADMIRE

Page 2: Films i admire

The grudge The grudge is a supernatural film. I admire it because the plot of the film is in a non-linear sequence of events and includes intersecting subplots.

I like how its cleverly thought out and at the end, they think they’ve escaped it but in fact she is still haunted by it and it appears behind her, I like this scene because it gives the audience a glimpse of hope fore the character.

Also I admire it because it really is a freaky and scary film that leave you in suspense and on the edge of your seat or hand covering face nearly all the time.

The shining I admire this film because it is seen as the greatest horror movie of all time even though its 23 years old. I admire it because its got a good story line, good acting and the trailer is also just as good.

The voiceover/narratvive in the trailer at the start is a good way to catch peoples attention because its unusual for a trailer to start in this way telling you a story, but it works because its as if the audience are listening to him telling you a ghost story. I also admire this film because it’s a psychological horror and has just been filmed/wrote is amazing. Throughout the film its jumpy which is a typical convention of a horror but at the same time, the actor who plays Jack, plays him so well with the creepiness and craziness for example in the famous scene where he knocks his head through the door and says ‘here's Johnny’ I really admire how that one line is now used everywhere. I also admire the use of the fast editing in the trailer, epically when she's running through the corridor and the lights are flashing on and off. Also the fact that it leaves it on a cliff-hanger, you don’t know if any of the characters are dead, you don’t know why he's gone crazy, so it makes the audience eager to watch the film. I think this film changed the way society viewed the horror genre.
