General review of Automatic Backwash filter.
IntroductionFluytec Automatic Backwash filtersallow continuous filtering together witha backwash process. This equipment isespecially appropriate for applications in
which filtering continuity is a key parameter.
They are specially designed to work with seawaterand ultrafiltrationplants.

Advantages
The GRP(other materials under request) bodiesare designed according to the Ad-Merkblatcode and manufactured in compliance with theEuropean 97/23 CE, S.3.3 standard for pressurevessels.
Stainless Steel filter elements (from AISI316up to 254SMO -PREn:43-, depending on rawwater salinity) are designed according to theflow values and filtration rate.
The addition of auxiliary elements (electricalpanel, PLC, differential pressure gauge,geared motor and solenoid valve) allow theconfiguration of compact and completelyautomatic equipment which reducesmaintenance operations to the minimum.

Back-flushing
The operating basis of the Fluytec AutomaticBackwash filter (FTAUR) is the pressuredifference between the untreated waterchamber and the drain pipe outlet. This pressure
difference is an operating parameter thatmust be defined and rated in the differentialpressure gauge. Once the pressure differencehas reached this value, the solenoid valve isoperated to start the backwashing process.
When the solenoid valve opens, a vacuumpressure is caused inside the filtering elementbeing washed, dragging out the solids thatblock it and thus cleaning it. The washing flowto be subtracted from the total flow producedby the FTAURis defined according to the timeand flow needed to obtain clean purge water.
Once one filter element has been washed, theoperation is repeated with the rest of the filterelements until a complete washing cycle hasbeen completed.
The processes for starting and ending thewashing process, opening and closing valves,rotating the purge arm, etc, are controlled bythe PLC in the electrical cabinet.
