Film Maker’s Home

This is my friend’s house located in Los Angeles. She is an independent film maker. She uses her apartment as a living and working space.

As a film maker and movie fan, she has got a collection of different movies such as American, Asian and French movies.

HD TV and a set of DVDs

For her filmmaking, she gets inspiration from different sources such as music (i.e, the two records of West Side Story and The Wiz) and from reading books.

In addition to filmmaking, she is a traditional artist which is why she keeps a lot of art and photography in her living environment.

Whenever she sees an interesting picture, she’s often inspired to draw it and paint it.

Her tools.

She uses several tools for her filmmaking projects. She believes that her Macbook laptop is one of the most valuable tools that she owns. On it, she edits video, writes scripts and creates animations using a variety of multimedia applications.

Her wacom tablet drawing tool is also very valuable to her. She uses it to draw directly into her computer to create animated short films.

She also uses a digital musical keyboard to compose music for some of her projects.

These are photos of a current project she produced called “Sule and the case of the tiny sparks.” It is a short cartoon for children that she worked on for several months with her twin sister. The story is set in an African village and has a positive social message for children based on the teachings of Nelson Mandela.

Like many people who work from home, her apartment serves two purposes. It is a place for work but, it is also where she lives, rests and cooks.
