Shuttle Conveyors

Shuttle conveyor is a piece of belt conveyor mounted on a

travelling trolley, with long travel drive for smooth, to and fro

motion on rail. Easy and trouble free operation ensures long

life to the equipment resulting in efficient performance of the

entire plant. It is used for feeding material at a desired position

on bunkers or conveyors.

The shuttle conveyor is a simple equipment consisting of

idlers, pulleys, conveyor belt, conveyor drive, reducers, take-

up, skrit board, scrapers, etc. with L.T drive mounted on

carriage. Substantial fabricated frames support the heavy

components like pulleys, take-up, conveyor and travel drive

mechanism. Deck plates between the carrying and return

strand of the belt ensure that spillage does not take place on

the return belt.

Coneyor drive consists of an electric motor, reducer and a

coupling. It can be directly mounted on a drive pulley shaft by

using a hollow shaft mounted gearbox or a drive assembly can

be coupled with a pulley shaft and reducer output shaft with

the help of LS Coupling, depending on the need of the

customer.

The travel drive is through a direct wheel axle drive design. A

hollow shaft mounted gear box is placed directly on the wheel

axle. The input of the gearbox is coupled with an electric

motor. The brake is mounted on the rear extend shaft of the

motor or between input shaft of gearbox and motor shaft. All

drive components are mounted on a common drive base,

which is connected with the shuttle conveyor’s main body

with torque arm. The power is supplied by a festooning cable

arrangement as the travel length is small.

It is very rarely required in shuttle conveyor for which a special

type of chute is designed.

The entire bunker opening is sealed by covering with a belt.

The covering belt is deflected in a particular profile with the

help of a set of bend pullies and rollers mounted on the shuttle

conveyor chute. By virtue of such a bell profile, the bunker

opening below the chute discharge is cleared automatically to

drop the material into bunker.

Features

= There are options of drive system. Drives with chain

and sprocket; direct drive with hollow shaft mounted

gearbox alongwith motor and brake.

= Direct drive is also available with a hollow shaft

mounted geared motor with an inbuilt brake.

= The machine can be controlled either by local operation

from the machine or by remote operation from control

station with selector switch or both.

= The machine has been provided with all safety controls

and limit switches, such as over travel limit switch,

normal travel switch , zero speed switch, pull cord switch,

belt sway switch etc.
