Important information before the race

EXPODEPOR 2017 – The Health & Fitness Expo will take place in a new location, Pabellón 12 of IFEMA situated on Avenida del Partenón 5 on the 21st and 22nd of April. The expo has an exhibition space of more than 15.000m2 and some of the most prestigious �rms, institutions and entities in the world of sport, and athletics will be present.

It is recommended to visit the Expo on Friday, 21st of April to avoid the possiblity of long waiting periods to access the Pavillion on Saturday, due to legal capacity limits stipulated by IFEMA.

Race Number Pick Up, Gear Bag and Tee All runners must visit Expodepor-2017 in order to collect their Race Number (bib) with timing chip, gear bag and the Adidas technical t-shirt. Each runner must collect their own race number. Race numbers CANNOT be collected on the day of the race; there are absolutely no exceptions. All bib number pick up occurs exclusively at the EXPODEPOR – Health & Fitness Expo 2017.


When the person collecting the Race Number is not the person registered, they must present a photocopy of the OFFICIAL DOCUMENT WITH THE PERSON’S RACE NUMBER a photo copy of their own ID AND a photocopy of the ID of the person registered. The organizers will retain these documents IN CASE IT’S NEC-CESARY TO CONFIRM who collected the race bib.

Medical information: Don’t forget to fill in the medical information on the back of the Race Number which helps in case the runner needs medical assistance during the race.

THERE IS NO FLEXIBILITY WITH THIS RULE AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THE RACE NUMBER BE GIVEN WITHOUT THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE OWNER OF THE REGISTRATION.


EXPODEPOR-FERIA DEL DEPORTE 2014Corral ChangesTo change to a slower paced corral simply move back to a slower corral on the morning of the race. No other procedures are required.If your training has gone better than expected and you want to move up to a quicker paced corral, collect your bib number and then go to the SOLUCIONES / SOLUTIONS stand in Expodepor-2017 to be placed in the appropriate corral. To move to a faster corral, you must PRESENT AN OFFICIAL PRINTED confirmation or certification from another race where the time was accomplished.

EXPODEPOR-FERIA DEL DEPORTE 2014Pasta PartyThe Pasta Party will take place on Saturday the 22nd of April from 13:00 until 16:00.

All the REGISTERED runners for the 2017 EDP Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ can enjoy a fantastic plate of pasta with fellow runners. You will be asked to show your bib number for entry.* The Pasta Party is free for all runners registered in any of the three distances.* Those accompanying runners can buy a ticket to access the pasta party for €5.

EXPODEPOR-FERIA DEL DEPORTE 2014T-shirt changesThe organization ensures all the runners the size of the shirt selected at the time of registration, therefore, we can not make any changes. However, if your preference for size has changed, you will be able to do the exchange of the shirt with other runners who are in the same situation as you, in the enabled area for it, at Expodepor - Feria del Deporte 2017.

To collect the Race Numbers, Runners must present the DOCUMENT THAT CONTAINS THEIR RACE NUMBER with their photo ID or other Official Documentation.

Participants registered in any of the three distances of the EDP Rock´n´Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ may use the baggage check service free of charge.

Where is the Baggage Check located?

The Baggage Check drop off and pick up is located in Retiro Park, near the �nish line, at the end of the “Paseo Duque Fernán Nuñez”. Approximately 1200 meters from the starting line (Paseo de Recoletos). To access the Baggage drop off location area before the race, you can enter any of the gates in Retiro Park. The closest entrances to Baggage Check are located on: Av. Menéndez Pelayo (Puerta de Granada) and Calle Alfonso XII (Puerta del Ángel Caído).

Directional signs will be posted inside the park.

Example: Bib number 1255 (Marathon distance) should hand in their bag at the Marathon drop off point Nº 5.

How can runners pick up their Bags after the race?

Runners can pick up their bags in the same area where they dropped off their bags, according to their bib number and race distance.

Do not leave valuable belongings in the bags. The organization is not responsible for any damaged, lost, or misplaced items.

Unclaimed bags will remain in the custody of the organization for one week after the race at the MAPOMA of�ces (C/ Donoso Cortés Nº 54). After, the organization will give all bags to a selected Charity.

The Baggage Check personnel will only accept the Official Bags provided by the organization.

How and when can runners drop off their Official Gear Bags?

When runners pick up their bib number at the Expo, they will also receive a numbered sticker that will match the bib number, and an Of�cial Gear Bag. This bag must be used on race day to store personal items. The sticker should be placed on the indicated space on the Of�cial Gear bag.

The Gear Check service will be open on April 23rd from 7am until 15:30 pm, the same day.

Each distance, Marathon, ½ Marathon, and 10k will have a different designated Baggage Check Area. Runners should drop off their bags at the TENTS corresponding to both their distance and the last digit of their bib number.

STARTING CORRALS

Corral systemThe corral pens and starting assignments ensure an orderly start for participants of different paces. Based on the expected �nishing time that was provided with your registration, you will be assigned with a race number and corral that corresponds with your estimated time of completion. Madrid features a mass start, all corrals start the race together.

*Look at your race bib, it will have a box with the number of your corresponding corral.

Course Time LimitTo ensure the roads are open to traf�c on time, the time limit for the Marathon is 6 hours:Half Marathon is 3 hours; 10K is 1 hour 30 minutes; Hand bike and wheelchair marathon time limit is and 3 hours 30 minutes. All times are strictly enforced. The time limits start when the last participant and the tail vehicle cross the start line.If the pace of a participant is behind the of�cial pace limit, they can:

• Increase their pace to stay within the time limit of the race.• Get in the tail vehicle which will transport them to the �nish line.

Each race will have pacers with different race paces. According to their time they will be in different starting corrals. Pace Teams will always be visible for the runners that want to follow their pace.

PACERS

The correct placement of the Race Number with the timing chip is very important. The timing chip is attached to the back of the Race Number. Do not remove it. The Race Number must be placed on your chest and nowhere else. Please don’t bend or tamper with the bib before the race, and try to ensure that no device like a watch interferes with the bib when you cross the START or FINISH line. RACE NUMBER & TIMING CHIP

Run in a smart manner, maintaining a steady and aerobic pace.

Run within your capabilities and slow down in the event of sudden fatigue. Before any negative symptoms appear, slow your pace or even stop. If there is no clear improvement, ask for help. There is medical assistance along the course of the EDP Rock´n´Roll Madrid Marathon & ½. If you can no longer continue, there will be several tail vehicles that can pick you up and take you to the �nish line. Along the course there will be assistance provided by SAMUR-Protección Civil and skaters.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE RACE


If you complete a distance other than the distance of your official bib number, you will be disqualified. For example, you cannot run the half marathon with a marathon bib number, or run the half marathon with a 10K number.

Secure Zone• Once you have crossed the �nish line, you will enter the Secure Zone, a closed off area designed exclusively for participants (It is advised not to enter the secure zone with minors)• People WITHOUT A RACE NUMBER OR WITH AN UNOFFICAL RACE BIB will be REMOVED by security personnel before they access the secure zone.• Inside this zone, there will be food and beverages; also you will receive your FINISHER Medal (Once the volunteers have verified the authenticity of your 2017 Race Bib).• Once you have left the Secure Zone you will not be able to return under any circumstances.• Before leaving the Secure Zone, you will collect your bag from Gear Check.

RESULTS

Important information for after the race

Through the web page runners can download the Of�cial Finisher Certi�cate of the EDP Rock´n´Roll Madrid Marathon & ½; the certi�cate will include your name, time and of�cial ranking by categories.

The provisional results will be published on the of�cial website at 19:00 on Sunday the 23rd of April. If you need to request a change of your of time, you must use the form on the website. If you have pre-paid for the medal engraving service during registration, you will �nd the medal engraving stand in the secure zone before the baggage tents. Runners also have an opportunity to pre-pay for medal engraving at the Expo at the TodoTrofeo’s stand for only €5. The race day medal engraving fee is €10, cash only, at the �nish line.

As the of�cial photographers of the event, MarathonFoto will be taking photos during Race Day. You can buy these photos online after the event. It is important you keep your Race Number to locate your photos. After the race visit the MarathonFoto website, select the name of the event EDP Rock 'n' Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ and enter your race number to see your photos. Runner photos are normally posted within two days after the event.
