OverviewOverview

Project Objective:“Design and develop a multi-channel, wireless

communication system for the purpose of modifying toys for children with disabilities”

Purpose:-To afford children with disabilities the same

opportunities -To provide a cheaper alternative to current options

-Allow anyone to be able to modify toys

Resolved Resolved ProblemsProblems

PROBLEMS:

•Interaction between uController and RF Module

•Programming uController

•Ordering Parts online

•Finding right toy

•PCB express what?

•Holes on PCB were too small

•Not sticking to Gantt chart

Page 15: Final Presentation EE 396/496 Joint Project May 9, 2006

Outstanding Outstanding Problems & Problems & SuggestionsSuggestions

PROBLEMS:

•Casing not to standards… (ghetto) Krystina… enough said

•PCB wasn’t PERFECT!!! Allen mixed up 2 cnxns for DL cable … need to fix if planning to mass produce

•Left Archimedes in a hurry last night so there’s a big mess there for us to clean

•Depletion region of (krystina’s) wallet increased exponentially from t = day 1 to t = now (Donations?//)

•Paul, Allen, Mel… I.O.U.’s

Future Improvement

s• Save money by etching PCB’s in house• Save money by buying all necessary supplies in the fewest

amount of orders to reduce shipping costs• Complete final designs before conducting tests

– Complete planning leads to faster product development and testing• Create smaller modules to fit in ball switch to be used by

Archimedes Hawaii• Add extra features:

– On and Off switch– Battery status (Full to empty)– Status Indicators

• Power• Transmitting/Receiving Signal Strength• Range• Switch

– “Switch Type” Mode• User manual
