Theme❑Maia "A construção de um ADN"
Sub-theme-
Water park
❑Our project was the planning of a water park (Infrastructures, investment, Human resources...).
❑The park must be environmentally friendly to protect the nature.
ProblemIdentification
❑ "Can the city of Maia have a water park? "
Key-words
❑ Innovation

❑Fun
❑Collaboration
❑ Responsibility
Project Objectives
❑The objectives of our project are:
➢ Create something different in Maia;
➢ Give job opportunities (lots of employment places needed to build the park and to keep the park going);
➢ Improve tourism in the city of Maia (It will bring tourists from all over the country and other countries).
Visual Education
❑Logotip
➢This is inserted in the area of publicity(advertising), themarketing and the branding, which consists in a visualpresentation or a graphic one about the company. The objectiveof the logotip is to identify a company or local creating aconnection with the consumers.
❑Slogan
➢This has to be a catchy phrase that is easy to memorize and itshould include the main features of a product or service.
Maia Splash, enjoy the best!
English
➢Language level (vocabulary related to sports, facilities, business
language)
➢ Reading - different types of texts using different
reading techniques (skimming, scanning...);
➢Speaking & language Functions (grammar and vocabulary,
discourse management, pronunciation, interaction);
➢Listening;
➢Writing - different types of texts.
HistoryINDUSTRIALIZATION: this started In England and it is acompilation of transformations occurred(…). This Startedbecause of the richness of its subsoils that containedmaterials such as iron and coal. This revolution broughtpolitical, social and economic conditions.
TRANSPORTS REVOLUTION: this revolution also beganin England during the middle of the century XVIII whenthe national market suffered a huge expansionof consumption, and because of this, transports started tobe used more often to transport the merchandise andit started to be a normal thing to see.
History (cont.)
THE THIRD STAGE OF THE INDUSTRIALIZATION:With this new stage new sources of energy,likethe petroleum and the electricity, emerged. Withthat, it was possible to create big structures onthe construction, like our project, the water park.
ECONOMIC LIBERALISM: this emerged in the endof the century XVIII in most of Europe. The Law ofsupply and demand regulated the prices of thegoods.
Chemestry
❑ The Physics-Chemistry research contributed to our projectin the area of Acoustics (with regard to sound) and chemicalreactions (precipitation and combustion related to theemission of pollutants).
❑ Concerning sound, in the water park, noise is produced inthe engine room and it can be reduced. Noise from, forexample, extractors, smoke extractors,
ventilation, elevators, doors,
television sets, radios, appliances
or simply conversations between
people affect workers and park
visitors and the surrounding buildings.
Chemestry(cont.)
❑ Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to prevent noise pollution, such as:
❑ Acoustically isolating the engine room:➢ either through the use of absorbent materials
(cork, fabric or Styrofoam on rough and porous surfaces),
➢ either by diverting or absorbing the sound with acoustic barriers; in order to prevent reflection and consequent propagation of sound.
Chemestry(cont.)
❑ On the other hand, with respect to the combustionreactions related to the emission of pollutants (sulfur oxidesand nitrogen) with very negative environmental impact,from the use of fossil fuels in our water park.
These pollutants combine with water from the atmosphereand produce acids, returning to the soil by acid rain.
❑ Consequences: These affect human health, accelerate thecorrosion of buildings, degrade crops and weaken trees.
Nitrogen oxide contributes to the depletion of the ozonelayer and carbon dioxide increases the greenhouse effect.
Chemestry(cont.)
➢ Environmental Implications
❑ Landscape change;
❑ Sound Pollution;
❑ Pollution by the means of transport;
❑Waste of water;
❑ Destruction of habitats (deforestation);
❑ Biodiversity reduction.
Chemestry(cont.)
❑ Measures: Thus, we will use various processes used to reducethe emission of pollutants into the atmosphere. Among the processes we find the addition of substances that combine with the pollutants, eliminating them, and the use of emission filters.We will also promote a renewable project that will include:➢the use and reuse of renewable energy resources and sources (so
lar light, hydroelectric power ...),
➢the creation of green spaces that contribute to the environment,
➢the reuse of rainwater and rivers subject to treatment by ETAR's,
➢The construction in a place away from urban agglomerations,
➢the creation of a leisure space with the location next to astation of a public transport.

Strengths and Weaknesses of
our Project
❑ Strengths:➢Attractive tourist spot;
➢ Innovation in Maia;
➢ Dedicated to the Mayan families;
➢ Development of the city (cafes, restaurants, hotels) due to the influx of people - bring people and money to the city.
➢Birthday parties and school's visits can be organised.
❑Weaknesses:➢ Increase traffic in the city;
➢Use too much water;
➢ Environmental implications;
➢ Population may not see it as an advantage.
Positive aspects and to improve
Positive aspects are:- Good teamwork- Original ideas- Fulfillment of tasks
Aspects to improve:- More and better computers- More concentration- Do the things in the correct type of document
