I am a co-president and treasurer for the orgaization. Body Con is a portfolio development organization for students looking to gain profes- sional experience in the fashion industry. Membership is not restricted to clothing, textiles and design majors, as we have majors in business, journaism, public relations, chemistry, graphic design, etc. We all work together to build each other’s portfolios. Some members like photography, while others like styling or event plan- ning. We build on each other’s talents to produce great content. Within the first week of school, Body Con had an email list of over 50 members. This far, we have had multiple events. The first was a runway show at the Get Involved Fair. We wanted to start our with a bang and give the student a preview of what we are caplable of doing and plan to do in the months to come. The International Programs Office asked us to plan another runway show for diversity week, where each stylist picked a runway look from a different country as inspiration and styled their model as a street style version of the runway look. The most recent event was a fundraising event where the members donated their old clothes, shoes and accessories to sell in order to raise money for the club. One of the local consignment stores, The Storm Cellar, donated about ten bags of clothes and we made $120 at the event. We set up the room like a boutique and had several different concept shops. Body Con is a portfolio development organization for students looking to gain profes-sional experience in the fashion industry. Membership is not restricted to clothing, textiles and design majors, as we have majors in business, journaism, public relations, chemistry, graphic design, etc. We all work together to build each other’s portfolios.
