OUR WELCOME TO YOU!

Welcome to the 63rd Annual Conference of the Washington Finance Officers Association! Vancouver is delighted to be your host for this year’s conference. This year’s conference theme is “Find the Balance”, attempting to inspire each of us to find balance in our jobs and in our everyday lives. Providing the capacity to stay fresh and bring new perspectives to the finance profession in Washington State and to help keep our minds clear for when we are trying to make our numbers “balance”. WFOA provides a quality educational and networking opportunity this week for personal and professional growth. With seven (7) concurrent educational tracks, there is certainly something for everyone!

Tuesday begins the activities with an array of Pre-conference classes and either our annual golfing event or a wildlife kayaking excursion. At our Wednesday evening reception, we have incorporated a “Wellness Mini Fair” along with an outdoor “Walk in the Park” where you can enjoy some light snacks and catch up with some friends old and new. Thursday night promises to be a great night, where we will enjoy a sit-down dinner and then dance to the Northwest’s Favorite Party Band, Hit Explosion!

Please take a few minutes to become familiar with this program and make the most of your conference experience. We encourage all attendees to visit the exhibit booths to view a wide variety of products and services available to state and local governments. This year’s group of companies and organizations offer you the perfect opportunity to view products, ask questions, and see live demonstrations of their products and service that will save you money and time. WFOA would like to thank all affiliate members, vendors and sponsors for their continued support!

We look forward to a highly productive and enjoyable conference. If there is anything you need, please contact the registration desk where someone there will be available to make your stay more enjoyable.

On behalf of the WFOA Board, Education Committee, Local Conference Committee and Conference Solutions, welcome to Vancouver!

Carrie Lewellen Jana Brown

Dr. Kelly Richmond Pope, DePaul University

How could one woman steal $53 million dollars without anyone noticing?

Rita Crundwell stole $53 million across two decades while in office as the City Comptroller of Dixon, Illinois a small U.S. town with a population of just 16,000. She used the funds to build one of the nation’s leading quarter horse breeding empires all while forcing staff cuts, slashing police budgets and neglecting public infrastructure. While Crundwell was stealing, the City of Dixon was borrowing a significant amount of money to keep the city afloat. Directed and produced by Kelly Richmond Pope, Ph.D., CPA, CFE, ALL THE QUEENS HORSES is the riveting story of how a pillar of the community could so callously execute a scam of such magnitude. sponsored by
