The success of an online system can be affected by many factors, one of which is peer recommendation. Manafy (2010) believes user reviews have changed how business happens. This is confirmed by the research of Lu et al (2010, p.471) who find that user reviews “have a great impact on other consumers’ purchasing behaviors”. As the book exchange website will only have an internal market, the success will hinge on ensuring that peer to peer recommendation is a key component to the system.
