Who can get federal student aid?
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident• High school graduate/GED holder• Eligible degree/certificate program• Valid Social Security number• Males registered for Selective Service• Satisfactory academic progress in college/career

What is financial need?
•Financial need is determined by Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and cost of attendance (COA)•EFC comes from what you report on FAFSA•COA is tuition, fees, room and board, transportation, etc.

What is the Expected Family Contribution (EFC)?
• Federal Aid is based on the principle of parental responsibility
• Amount family can reasonably be expected to contribute
• Stays the same regardless of college• Two components
• Parent contribution• Student contribution
• Calculated using data from a federal application form and a federal formula
