Page 1: Finger Plays

I have ten fingers    (hold up both hands, fingers spread)And they all belong to me,  (point to self) I can make them do things- Would you like to see?

I can shut them up tight   (make fists)

I can open them wide    (open hands)I can put them together   (place palms together) I can make them all hide   (put hands behind back)

I can make them jump high   (hands over head) I can make them jump low   (touch floor) I can fold them up quietly   (fold hands in lap) And hold them just so.

Slowly, slowly, very slowly (creep fingers up baby's body)Creeps the little snail.Slowly, slowly, very slowlyUp the wooden rail.Quickly, quickly, very quickly (run fingers all over baby's body)Runs the little mouse.Quickly, quickly, very quicklyAll around the house.

I can run, I can hop,

I can spin ‘round like a top,

I can stretch my arms out wide,

I can swing from side to side.

I can stand up straight and tall,

I can make myself so very small.

My hands upon my head I’ll

place,

On my shoulders, on my face,

On my hips and at my sides,

Then I’ll lift them up so high,

Make my fingers swiftly fly,

Hold them out in front of me,

And clap them so – one, two,

three.

Three little nickels

Three little nickels in a pocketbook new,    (hold up three fingers)One bought a peppermint, and then there were two,    (bend down one finger) Two Little nickels before the day was done, One bought an ice cream come, and then there was one    (bend down another finger) One little nickel I heard it plainly say, "I'm going into the piggy bank for a rainy day!"

Taller, smaller.

When I stretch up, I feel so tall;

When I bend down, I feel so

small.

Taller, taller, taller, taller;

Smaller, smaller, smaller,

smaller,

Into a tiny ball.
