itsENÄISYYPÄIVÄIn Finnish homes instead it is traditional to celebrate Independence Day by placing two candles lit for each window of the house; This tradition goes back to the popular legend that the candles were used as a signal to communicate to young Finns who fought against Russian oppression that the house could offer them shelter and protection.
