NO PARKING IN THE STREET?Residents have asked about recent bills at the state level that allowed parking inthe street (or at least restricted HOAs from fining someone for parking in thestreet). While it initially passed, the final bill was struck down and HOAs remainable to restrict homeowners from parking in the street.

Why is this important to the HOA Board? Originally, different builders createdFinley Farms. These builders laid out streets of differing widths. Some of these

House Painting Q&A - Reprinted from last issue

CAN I REVERSE THE COLORS ON MY HOUSE?Yes, with permission, you may use the darker pop-out colors as your primary house color and the lighter wall color for your pop-outs.

CAN I USE THE SAME COLORS WITHOUT PERMISSION?No, the CC&Rs and Architectural Guidelines specify that you should first seek permission when painting your house even if youare using the same colors as when it was built. You will not be refused but are required to get ‘approval.’

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT COLOR ON MY HOUSE?Yes, within certain palettes that are available at both Home Depot and Dunn Edwards atVal Vista and Ray Road. Ask to see the Finley Farms South paint book. We are currentlylooking to add some colors to those books. Download the form from the link below to letus know your intentions. If you go ahead and paint without approval, you could be madeto repaint at your own cost.

HOW LONG DOES APPROVAL TAKE?Usually, the Architectural Committee can give you an okay within 3-4 weeks.

ASSAULT ON TEEN GIRLPolice were called out after a 14-yr old girl was foundunconscious near Finley Farms Elementary Schoolon Monday, August 27.

The police report states that she was groped by twoolder boys, and the girl may know one of her attack-ers. There was no explanation as to why she lost con-sciousness.

If you witnessed anything or know somethingabout this case, please contact the Gilbert PoliceDepartment.

Please speak to your children about stranger danger and about exercising caution when goingout alone.

NO PARKING IN THE STREET? - continuedstreets are narrow and do not allow fire or rescue vehicles to pass through if cars are parked on both sides of thestreet. Some of us on the Board have mixed feelings about this rule, and we have discussed it almost every year athomeowner meetings. We could try to impose different rules for homeowners and their guests, depending onwhich street they live on, but it seems easier and more fair to restrict parking community-wide.

The fire that happened on Saratoga last year is an example reminding us that safety is the real issue at stake.While it may not be your family needing to be rescued, it could be. Garbage trucks, bulk trash loaders, etc. alsohave greater challenges when vehicles are in the street.

We’d like to remind residents that we all agreed to the CC&Rs when we decided to move to Finley Farms. We chose this community based on it’s well-run management, it’s safety and it’s attractiveness. Let’s help keep it that way.
