3. Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire
4. Squeeze the grip lever firmly
5. Sweep from side to side
Safety Precautions
a. Do not use water extinguishers for Class B (flammable liquids and gases) and Class C (energised electrical fires)
b. Keep a safe distance
c. Do not stand facing the wind direction
d. Stay out of thick smoke areas
e. For electrical fire, remember to switch for power supply if possible
f. Do NOT Hold the Discharge Tube when operating the CO2 Fire Extinguisher as it might lead to frostbite
HOSE REEL SYSTEM
HOSE REEL
Minimise manpowerOne-man operated
User friendlyMinimal back pressure Suitable for use by most people Easy to operate/ be deployed
MobilityNon-Kinking reinforced rubber about 30m long.Hose extends from 15m to 30m
Strength9m throw ( water dispenses to distance of 9m) Achievable flow rate of 0.4 liters/sec.
ADVANTAGESADVANTAGES::
HOSE REELHOSE REELIt is important to assess the type and source of fire before using a Hose reel to put out the fire!
Type of Fire Hose reel suitability
Class A
(Solid combustible material)
YES
Class B
(Flammable gases and liquid)
NO
Class C
(Electrical fire)
NO
Class D
(Reactive metals)
NO
Checking of Hose ReelCheck that there are no obstructions preventing the
use of the Hose Reel.
Check that the key to unlock the Hose Reel cabinet is housed on the cabinet.
Standard Fire Hose Reel enclosed inred cabinet.
Notice key at the right corner

In open areas, check for wind direction before moving towards the fire with the hose reel. Move in an upwind direction to avoid smoke and heat.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Do not use the hose reel to extinguish Class B (flammable liquids/gases) or C (energised electrical equipment) fires.
In cases where you are trapped in a smoke logged situation, use the hose reel as a guideline to lead you out from hazard area.
Use the hose reel to extinguish solid combustible materials only.
CONCLUSION
By applying correct methods of extinguishing fire with proper firefighting equipment, you can save lives and properties!!
