Funeral Service of Baroness Thatcher
“Last night when we were saying prayers, my daddy said everyone
has done wrong things except Jesus. I said I don’t think you
have done bad things because you are the Prime Minister. Am I right or is my daddy?”

“However good we try to be, we
can never be as kind, gentle and
wise as Jesus. There will be times
when we do or say something we
wish we hadn’t done and we shall
be sorry and try not to do it again
... our lives can’t be as good as
the life of Jesus.”
Funeral Service of Baroness Thatcher
“She applied herself to her work
with formidable energy and
passion”
Today
‘Fire in our hearts’
Luke 24:13-24
‘New beginnings for the people of God’
… some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn't find his body.
They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as
the women had said, but him they did not see.“
Luke 24:22-24
The walk to Emmaus
Downcast
"What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in
these days?“ Luke 24:17-18
How did they feel?
Disillusioned
but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel And what is more, it is the third day since
all this took place
Luke 24: 21
How did they feel?
Opened up the Scriptures
"How foolish you are … Did not the Christ have to suffer these things?" And beginning
with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the
Scriptures concerning himself.
Luke 24:25-27
How does Jesus raise their spirits?
… faith comes from hearing the message, and the
message is heard through the word of Christ.
Rom 10:17
Opened up the Scriptures
"Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and
opened the Scriptures to us?“
Luke 24:32
How does Jesus raise their spirits?
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay
with them
Luke 24:28-29
Opened their eyes
When he was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him,
and He disappeared from their sight
Luke 24:30
How does Jesus raise their spirits?
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,
who is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4
Where are you on your journey?
Today, will you decide to get past
the hurts of your life and press on further
in your walk with Jesus?
