ITEM 1:

DRYDOCKING AND SERVICES

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to safely berth, haul out, shift and undock vessel necessary to carry out all repairs in this contract.

Provide additional shoring as needed after haul out and during block shifting topreclude any damage to hull or paint

Provide gangway, 208 VAC, 3PH, 4 wire 60 amp shore power, temporary 1 ½”fire hose with 50 PSI minimum fresh water pressure, security and lighting

Provide independent certified AWS welder to inspect and certify all structural andfluid containment welds made by contractor. Provide weld report for all inserts,clad welds, and pipe welds to Engineer

Immediately after hauling out, wash down entire under water body with highpressure water and biodegradable cleaner including wheels and rudders. Handscrape all areas of heaving fouling

Remove sea chest screens and clean sea chest and screens with high pressurewater blast and biodegradable cleaner. Hand scrape all areas of heavy fouling

Cover all glass surfaces to prevent damage from blasting, painting and hot work

Take necessary measures to prevent ingress of abrasive materials and dust fromentering interior spaces of vessel

Cover all engines with tarps while not being worked on

ITEM 2:

HULL INSPECTION AND THICKNESS MEASUREMENTS

SCOPE: Visual inspection of existing condition of underwater body wheels and rudders. Hull will be measured by non-destructive method.

Shipyard representative and Engineer will make complete visual inspection ofhull, rudders and wheels and note any damage or corrosion

With an approved method, contractor shall measure hull in 800 locations asdetermined by Engineer and record readings, shown in thousands of an inch. Sixcopies of report showing location and reading shall be submitted to Engineer

ITEM 3:

HULL AND SEA CHEST ZINCS

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove and replace hull and sea chest zincs.

Contractor and Engineer will survey all hull, sea chest zincs. Engineer willdetermine which zincs to replace

All zincs to be replaced shall be of same size and type as original zincs

All zincs will be cut off with torch and new zincs shall be welded to remainingstraps

All zincs shall be protected from coatings

ITEM 4:

MISCELLANEOUS WORK ON PROPELLERS, SHAFTS AND RUDDERS

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to clean propellers, take shaft and rudder readings and repack inboard packing glands.

Propellers shall be cleaned and polished using procedures which cause no damage to same

Take wear down and run out readings of both shafts at all shaft bearings, record results and submit report to Engineer

Take clearance readings of rudder pintle bearing. Record results and submit report to Engineer

Remove old port and stbd inboard packing. Clean glands and followers. Clean gland studs and nuts

Engineer shall inspect glands before being repacked

Repack port and stbd inboard packing glands with Gore packing available from Kraft Industrial Supplies, attn: Gordon Kraft (650) 952-5606

ITEM 5:

REPLACEMENT INSERTS

SCOPE: Repair hull and sea chest by inserting steel plate.

Engineer shall designate areas of hull and sea chest to be repaired by new steel plate insert original thickness and measure same in square feet

Insert area shall be sandblasted to SP-6 at least 6” beyond area to be repaired

Contractor shall have certified welder repair identified areas with new steel as original

Insert welds shall be made 100% by back gouging or grinding

Finish of back side of insert area shall be repaired to original

ITEM 6:

CLAD WELDING

SCOPE: Repair hull plate and sea chest by clad welding.

Engineer shall designate areas of hull plating and sea chest to be repaired by clad welding and measure same in square inches

Clad weld areas shall be sandblasted to SP-6 at least 6” beyond area to be repaired

Contractor shall have certified welder repair identified areas with approved welding rod

Finish of back side of clad weld area shall be repaired to original

ITEM 7:

HULL CLEANING AND RECOATING

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to sand sweep entire hull and sandblast to bare metal 5% of hull and recoat hull to original specifications.

After vessel has been power washed, contractor, Ameron representative, and Engineer shall inspect entire under water body for coating conditions found. Contractor shall submit written report of same to Engineer

After thickness measurements, inserts and clad welding are complete hull shall be prepared for coating by sand sweeping undamaged existing coating according to Ameron representative. Inserts and clad welding and an additional 5% of hull shall be sand blasted to SP-6 to satisfaction of Engineer

Bare metal shall be coated with one full coat of 235 black epoxy and one full coat of 235 intermediate epoxy

Sand swept areas shall be recoated with one full coat of 235 intermediate epoxy

Entire hull from keel to water line shall receive two full coats of anti-fouling paint

Hull freeboard from water line to top of bulwark shall receive one full coat of 235 intermediate red and one full coat of Fireboat Red Amershield

Cap rail shall receive one full coat of Amershield Black

Engineer shall inspect completion of each coat before following coat shall be applied

Film thickness, recoating/drying times and temperature requirements of coating manufacturer shall be strictly followed and recorded and submitted to Engineer

ITEM 8:

SEA CHEST CLEANING AND RECOATING

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to sandblast entire sea chest and screens and recoat to original specifications.

After sea chest and screens have been power washed and thickness measurements taken and zinc anodes removed, Engineer shall designate any inserts or clad welding

After any inserting and clad welding is complete, entire sea chest and screens shall be sandblasted to SP-6. Note: close all suction valves to sea chest to prevent grit from entering piping

Bare metal shall be coated with one full coat of 235 black epoxy and one full coat of 235 intermediate epoxy

After two coats of anti-corrosive have been applied replace zinc anodes in sea chest by welding. Repair any damaged paint to original

Protect all zinc anodes from coating and apply two full coats of anti-fouling paint

Screens shall receive same four coatings as sea chest

After final inspection of interior of sea chest by Engineer, reinstall sea chest screens with original type hardware

ITEM 9:

SEA VALVE OVERHAUL

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to overhaul sea valves located in engine room.

Witness mark all valve parts for correct reassembly. Do not mix parts between valves

Five 10” fire pump suction gate valves shall be overhauled by removing bonnets, disassembling same and cleaning all surfaces to Engineer’s satisfaction. Coat interior wetted surface of valve bodies with two full coats of 235 and two full coats of Ameron anti-fouling paint. After Engineer’s reinspection, reassemble valves using appropriate new gasket material and valve packing

Five 4” engine cooling water suction globe valves shall be overhauled by removing bonnets, disassembling same and cleaning all surfaces and lap discs and seats to Engineer’s satisfaction. Coat interior wetted surface of valve bodies with two full coats of 235 and two full coats of Ameron anti-fouling. After Engineer’s reinspection, reassemble valves using appropriate new gasket material and valve packing

One 4” bilge pump sea suction globe valve shall be overhauled as per engine cooling valves

LETTERING, MARKINGS AND OTHER INSIGNIA

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove and replace lettering and repaint draft marks.

Letters on port and stbd bulwarks of main deck shall be white, 12” high and 2 ½” thick and shall read:

Letters on port and stbd of wheelhouse shall be red, 12” high and 2 ½” thick and shall read:

Vessel name on stern shall be white, 10” high and 2” thick and shall read:

ITEM 11:

RECOATING OF HOUSE

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials recoat house structure from main deck up

Spot repair by needle gun, grinder or sandblasting any areas showing failed coating that cannot be prepared for recoating with sanding only. Allow 25 square feet of this extra prep

Spot prime extra prep areas and other areas of bare metal with two full coats of Amercoat 235

 

Prep all house surfaces from main deck up using mechanical and/or hand sanding

Wipe all surfaces and coat with one full coat of Amershield to match existing colors

ITEM 12:

MAIN DECK REPAIRS

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to sandblast entire main deck surface and boat desk surface and recoat same with Ameron Non Skid System

Sandblast entire main deck from stem to stern and inside of all bulwarks and cap rail to SP-6

Sandblasting shall include all vertical surfaces up to 6" above deckline, and include bitts, cleats, undersides of firemain flanges, hatch commings, inside and outside of crane base, and engine room access soft patch

 

Blasted surface shall have a surface profile of 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" mil

Recoat all blasted surfaces with: 1. 4 mil dry thickness coating of Dimetcoat 302H zinc rich epoxy 2. Additional stripe coat of 302H on rough welds, cut outs, behind angles, on waterways 3. 5 mil coating of Amercoat 240 4. Additional stripe coat of 240 on rough welds, cutouts, behind angles, on waterways 5. Tape off areas to receive Non Skid and roll on Non Skid 237M at a rate of 60-65 sq ft/gal

Cutout and insert deck on portside where shore power cable has been removed

Weld small round bar cleat to each bulwark knee for securing small portable fenders as direct by Engineer

Cover all vents, protect all wiring and glass. Prevent grit from entering interior spaces, machinery, monitors and rudder bearings

Film thickness, recoating/drying times and temperature requirements of coating manufacturer shall be strictly followed and recorded and submitted to Engineer

Paint all disturbed areas with Ameron Amercoat 235 and Amershield to match

ITEM 13:

EXHAUST SILENCER REPLACEMENT

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove and replace 5 existing exhaust silencers and replace wasted stack plating

Remove wasted stack cover plating in its entirety

Remove 5 exhaust silencers

While silencers are removed, insulate approximately 100 sq ft of P&S bulkheads in way of CO₂ compartment and Engine Room after ladder trunk with heat insulation suitable for marine application

Silencers to be used are Harco Manufacturing Co. Critical Grade #1858 VRS 8 SP Carbon Steel with High Temp Paint. Contact: Josh Ison (503) 537-0600, Quote # 14056

Reuse existing exhaust piping above existing silencers and add to same as necessary

Fabricate collars, drip caps and centering devices as per drawing

Replace drain lines from top of stack with 316L SS pipe

Remove hinged vent cover on aft side of stack. Fabricate and install fixed drip covers on aft vent and P&S stack doors

Install four 2ft long grab rails on stack as directed by Engineer

Paint all disturbed areas using Ameron 235 and Amershield to match

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove six Detroit 71 Series cylinder heads from three Detroit 12V-71 engines rebuild and reinstall same on three pump engines

Reason for head overhauls is injector tubes are leaking at o-rings

Use all new gaskets and parts when overhauling and reinstalling heads

Reuse existing injectors

Machinist shall be qualified to work on 71 Series Detroit Diesel

Test run to Engineer's satisfaction upon completion

Engines shall not be opened while sandblasting is taking place on outside of vessel

PUMP ENGINE EXPANSION TANKS

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to fabricate and install three expansion tanks for cooling water for three pump engines

New tanks shall be constructed of 316L SS sheetmetal of 11 Gauge thickness

Tanks will be located hanging from overhead of engine room as directed

Tanks will have level gauge, filler neck, pressure cap and mounting for Murphy Level switch, and threaded half couplings

Tanks will be pressure tested with air for leaks

Tanks will be approximately 14"H x 12"W x 5"D

FLYBRIDGE DECK RAILING WHEELHOUSE OVERHEAD REPAIRING AND RECOATING

SCOPE: Furnish labor and materials to remove and replace existing steel railing and control stand with SS railing and control stand

Remove existing steel railing from top of wheelhouse and replace with 316L SS welded and polished railing of Phoenix design using 1" top rail, 3/4" second and third rail and 3/8 x 1 1/4 flat bar stanchions

Stanchions shall be electrically isolated from and anchored to aluminum flat bar welded to aluminum flybridge deck

Remove existing ladder from boatdeck to flybridge, fabricate and install new ladder of Phoenix design of 316L SS

Remove wasted flybridge control stand complete down to flanges in deck

Fabricate and install new control stand of 316L SS of aft station design. New control stand shall be connected to deck with hose and clamps to transition from SS tube to aluminum tube

Remove steel radar supports and replace with aluminum

Fabricate base for new owner furnished FLIR Camera and install same on flybridge deck as directed by Engineer

When all welding and repairs have been completed, recoat deck and disturbed surfaces and prove water tight

Remove two existing steel pipe clamps on msd vent pipe running up side of tower and replace with aluminum clamps

Box shall be bolted to new foundation

Remove existing step port side aft on engine room trunk

Fabricate and install new step with dimensions of 2 ft wide x 1 ft tread depth

PORT AND STBD AFT BULWARK MODIFICATION

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to modify bulwark aft of port and stbd quarter bitts to accept Jason's Ladder

Fabricate Jason's Ladder Box with same materials used for Jason's Cradle Box.

New Jason's Ladder Box will be mounted stbd side of main deck between manifold and CO₂ hose reel as directed

Remove existing half round pipe cap rail from port and stbd sides from 9" channel cap rail to end of cap rail aft of quarter bitts

Replace cap rail with 6" x 2" x 0.314 10 1/2 lb structural steel channel

Weld new channel to existing bulwark with 100% weld

Shorten bulwark aft of port and stbd quarter bitts so that opening is wide enough to accommodate Jason's Ladder

Weld four 316L SS pad eyes (2 port and 2 stbd) on deck so that Jason's Ladder can be attached to same

Weld 316L SS self draining socket in deck (1 port and 1 stbd) for stanchion in center of new opening

Fabricate 316L SS removable stanchion to be located in center of new opening

Fabricate and install web type closures for bulwark openings which allow for either half to be opened independently or completely removed with stanchion

All new grab rails shall be bent, welded, polished and mounted to round 316L SS pads welded to bulkheads

FIRE LOOP REPAIR

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove and replace seven sections of fireloop

All sections of loop are located in Engine room

All new sections shall be fabricated from Schedule 80 steel pipe and slip fit 300# weld flanges to match existing flanges

Use all new fasteners and gaskets

New piping shall be blasted and painted with 3 coats of Amercoat 235 inside and out

All sections are bends

Five sections are 6" pipe

Two sections are 8" pipe

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to open up, clean, inspect and reinstall Port and Stbd Rudder Post Carrier Bearings

While boat is out of water, lift port and stbd rudder posts enough to open up carrier bearings

Disassemble bearings to clean and inspect bearings' surfaces

Reassemble bearings using new fasteners

Fabricate cover fixed to top of each rudder post to make bearings drip proof

AFT FUEL TANK SUCTION VALVES

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to replace Port and sbd Aft Fuel Oil Suction Valves

Existing Bulkhead Valves are 1 1/4" 150# Flanged Union Bonnet Globe Valves

New Valves shall be 150# Flanged Valves suitable for diesel oil service and may be 1/4 turn repairable ball valves

Engineer can transfer fuel about boat to allow for valve repairs

Free up reach rods and attach same to new valves

ITEM 26:

ENGINEE ROOM SUPPLY BLOWER

SCOPE: Furnish labor and materials to fabricate and install intake plenum and install repaired axial fan in duct work located in forward hold.

Fabricate intake plenum as per drawing from 10 GA steel sheetmetal

Sand blast to SP-6 and galvanize new plenum prior to installation

Remove temporary 15 1/2 “ x 24” cover from forward intake plenum

Fit and weld new intake plenum to existing structure with 100% weld

Paint inside and outside of plenum with two complete coats of 235 epoxy

Paint outside of plenum with one complete coat of Amershield to match

Install axial fan in forward hold duct work

Engineer will complete wiring and testing same to his satisfaction

HYDRAULIC CRANE

SCOPE: Provide labor and materials to remove crane from boat and reinstall on crane base

Crane shall be disconnected electrically and hydraulically by Engineer

Unbolt crane from base and transport same to Station 35/Pier 22 1/2 by truck andunload at shop

Pick up crane from Station 35/Pier 22 1/2 shop and deliver to boat

Bolt crane to crane base

Engineer will reconnect
