Cuts and Scratches
Stop the bleedingClean cut after bleeding has stoppedCover with sterile bandage Call 911 if wound is large, bleeding won’t
stop, or if you think it’s serious
Nosebleed
Lean child forwardPinch nostrils shut
Put ice on bridge of noseCall 911 if bleeding won’t stop

Direct Pressure (with the cleanest thing you have)
Elevation Call 911
Burns and Scalds
• Stop the burning, cool
• Dry sterile dressing
• No butter, ointment, etc.
• Call 911 if large burn, blisters, charring, or if you’re not sure

Keep poisons out of reach In locked cabinet Know where children are

• Call Poison Control 275-2323– What kind of poison– How much– Age of child– Keep container and vomitus
