Techno-Societal 2016 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Societal Applications 20-21 December 2016 This conference offers a multidisciplinary platform for researchers from broad range of disciplines of Science, Engineering and Technology for reporting innovations at different levels. The key motivation for developing these technologies should be to bring change in the society. These technologies may be for betterment of differently abled people, Environment friendly, Livelihood, Rural Employment, Agricultural, Healthcare, Energy, Transport, Sanitation, water, Education, etc. Technology development should have holistic approach by considering various issues such as simplified process, employment generation, environmental friendly, deployment process, propagation approach and business models for sustenance. This conference will also help innovators to share their best practices or products developed to solve local problem which may help the other researcher to take inspiration to solve problems in their region by doing certain modifications. On the other hand, this conference may help to apply the technologies developed to solve the problems of various regions posed by researchers in the section of needs identified. This back and forth process for local- global interaction will help in solving local problem by global approach and help in solving global problem by improving local conditions. Background of Conference Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai decided to bring the faculty members of various engineering colleges together to solve the regional relevant problems under the guidance of eminent researchers from various reputed organisations. BARC, Mumbai had organised first theme meeting in 2012 to share their experience of collaborative research and product development to explore the use of advanced technology in service of rural India. The second meeting was also encouraging to involve various faculty members of engineering colleges, which held at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. The purpose of these theme meetings was to provide platform & encouragement to engineering college faculty for research in collaboration with Professors from reputed Indian Institutes IITs, IISc and research labs and motivate them to perceive the Regional Relevant Research. The third and fourth theme meetings were held at Shri Vital Education and Research Institute (SVERI), Pandharpur in 2014 and 2015 where more than 125 participants from more than 40 Engineering Colleges in Maharashtra participated in these theme meeting. A parallel session for farmers were also organised to have interactions of heads of engineering institutes to understand their problems. Contact: Dr. Prashant M.
