COMMUNITY CARE 1 John 1:16-19 provides both perspec-tive and motivation for us as believers as we consider responding to those in need:

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence."

There are several key truths that this passage teaches:

1. Jesus is our example. He laid down his life for us.

2. We should follow his example and lay our lives down for others.

3. We have the opportunity to be sacrificial as God blesses us with material possessions.

4. We all will have times when we see people in need..

5. We confirm God's love is in us as we respond and give to that need.

6. As we respond to those in need we will one day be able to stand before the Lord with our hearts at rest because we gave when we had the chance to do so.

Community Care is one of the ways each of us has the opportunity to ensure that our hearts will be at rest when one day we are in the presence of the Lord.

CHILDRENS CHURCH (Age 5-Grade 2) Children are dismissed from the 11am service and brought to the Children’s Ministry room to learn the love of Jesus through object lessons. Children are picked up by parents after service.

CHILDCARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Do you have a heart for kids and an hour you could give a few times a year? WOMEN’S BOOK CLUB We are reading “Lost in the Taiga” by Vassily Deskov for our next book. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday each month at 7pm in the church library. Women are invited to read the book and come JAN 10 to discuss. Check out our web-site for more about the book.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY Kelly Minter will lead us through 2 Corinthians in the study “All Things New,” exploring the truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, open-ing wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the new covenant. Thursdays 7 - 9pm begin JAN 26, or Mondays, 9 - 11am begin JAN 30. Register on the church website.

FRIENDS OF UKRAINE Anyone interested in learning more about the relationship with our sister church, Spring of Life, in Kremenchug is welcome to join us on Sunday, JAN 15, 11am in the Library.
