From the pastor… I want to thank you for your gracious giving to special projects recently:
In just the three services of our August revival (Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday night), you generously provided a love offering of $2400 for our leaders. Our church budget included money to pay for the travel and lodging of our revival leaders, but your offering allowed us to provide a very nice “thank you” to our leaders.
You are also right on schedule (a little ahead of schedule, in fact) with your giving toward our major Christmas project. As you know, we are trying to accomplish two goals with our Christmas project: 1) provide 500 Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (more than we have ever done), and 2) make a generous gift to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. The goal for this project is $15,000 ($7500 for each part of the project).
As you know, we are doing the Christmas Shoebox project differently this year. In order to stretch our money as far as possible, we are asking you to give so the church can buy the various items for the shoeboxes in bulk and then have a packing party when all the items are in hand. Some of you have asked if you can still pack a box at home (something that has developed into a tradition with your children) and then bring that box to church. Of course, the answer is yes! We are happy for you to do that. The main emphasis, however, remains on everyone giving so we can deliver more boxes than ever before! Two comments—First, all it will take to accomplish this big goal for Christmas is for everyone to give a little extra above our regular tithes and offerings. Second, don’t forget that the way this can be done is by giving a little extra above your regular tithes and offerings. This plan doesn’t work if we neglect our regular giving. Let me close by saying a heartfelt “thank you” for what you have done, and what you will do! Brother Ed
