Time seems to fly by so quickly. That is why I said in my final sermon of the old year that we have to be intentionalabout how we live in the New Year. These are the three areas that deserve our intentionality in 2016: 1. Lets be intentional in Bible reading. Time in God's Word is incredibly important—it is our connection with the mind and heart of God. Because Bible reading is so important, I would recommend quality over quantity. Better to read four verses with time for prayer, meditation, study, and life change than to read 4 chapters and then have to rush out of the house. Even with an emphasis on quality, I would still recommend that you use a systematic reading plan. Let me know if I can help you find or individualize such a reading plan. 2. Lets be intentional in submitting ourselves to Gods examination. If we invite God to work in us by His Spirit, He will do it. If we humble ourselves before God in our devotional times, and ask Him to reveal to us any area that needs to be changed, He will do it. 3. Lets be intentional in serving. There is no doubt that our church is a leading church in our area. But its not just because of our status as a "first" church. Its not because of our staff members. A church becomes a leading church because its people get involved. When people serve...when they express their faith and devotion to Christ in every area of church life by exercising their God-given spiritual gifts, then a church becomes a leading church. That happens because the power of God becomes evident through every work of the church: a caring nursery, a warm welcome, prepared Sunday School teachers, and committee members who take their jobs seriously. In whatever way God as equipped you to serve, get involved. Such service expresses your love to God, and makes your church great. In other words, lets be intentional about listening to God through His Word, deepening our walk with God by submitting our lives to His examination, and by serving God through our church. I believe 2016 will be a great year if we intentionally do these things. Dr. Edwin Scott “Where CHRIST Is the Center”

It is hard to believe that we are already in 2016. Time seems to fly by so quickly. That is why I said in my final sermon of the old year that we have to be “intentional” about how we live in the New Year. These are the three areas that deserve our intentionality in 2016: 1. Let’s be intentional in Bible reading. Time in God's Word is incredibly important—it is our

connection with the mind and heart of God.

2. Let’s be intentional in submitting ourselves to God’s examination. If we invite God to work in

us by His Spirit, He will do it. If we humble ourselves before God in our devotional times, and ask Him to reveal to us any area that needs to be changed, He will do it.

3. Let’s be intentional in serving. There is no doubt that our church is a leading church in our

area. But it’s not just because of our status as a "first" church. It’s not because of our staff members.

In other words, let’s be intentional about listening to God through His Word, deepening our walk with God by submitting our lives to His examination, and by serving God through our church. I believe 2016 will be a great year if we intentionally do these things. Dr. Edwin Scott
