The Group 21 members from 12 institutions Primary FLAG Hare & Hounds

Exercise (FLAGhh01, frequency splittings)

Other ‘spin-off’ projects: F. Baudin: extraction of estimates of

acoustic forcing of modes S. Fletcher: Fitting in the time domain N. Seghouani: Spectral Estimates

FLAGhh01 Main FLAG dataset FLAG_021_nw_025

Artificial Sun-as-a-star, Doppler-like data

Approximately 9.5 yrs, on 40-s cadence

10 Hounds fitted the data: WJC analysed returned estimates of mode splittings

Are differences between hounds due to assumed height ratio differences?

Test by fitting splittings of hounds at each (l,n) as function of

Here, the dummy variable j tags the results of each hound

Future Objectives: FLAGhh01 Complete and submit splitting

work? Get the hounds to fit with the

same m-component height ratios Which journal? WJC to write and circulate for

comment/revision to all?

Page 14: First FLAG Workshop

Future Objectives: New Parameters? Which parameters do we tackle

next? Working structure:

There should be spin-off programmes where individuals use data to help their own investigations

Also, a centrally co-ordinated Hare & Hounds programme (e.g., FLAGhh02 could look at frequencies)

Page 15: First FLAG Workshop

Future Objectives: A Topical Issue in Solar Physics? Motivation:

To demonstrate the importance of coordinated activity of this type to the community

To demonstrate widely the vigorous programme on-going in the global, low-l area

Timeliness: links to asteroseismology of solar-like stars

Page 16: First FLAG Workshop

Future Objectives: A Topical Issue in Solar Physics? We could do a joint issue with the

asteroseismology community (H&H activity is on-going in this area)

Can have: Topical Issue (whole volume, or half

volume/issue) Topical Section (some smaller fraction

of an issue)
