The tenth largest country in the world and the largest country of Africa, Algeria (اجلزائر ) is situated in the north of Africa and bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. Aljazair (the Islands), its Arabic name refers to the small islands we perceive when

we come to the capital Algiers by boat.

The diversity of the Algerian landscapes is as immense as the Algerian area. From north to south, you will be amazed by the blue Mediterranean Sea and the glittering sand of Sahara crossing the snowy high peaks of the two Atlas* (جبال األطلس ).The Algerian coastline stretched on for 1200 km describing wonderful beaches where you can lay on the sand enjoying your summer days and wild coves where the beauty of nature is still intact and untouched by any human urbanization.

is a mountain range across a northern stretch of Africa extending about 2500 km through Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

If you venture deeper in the highlands, you will be impressed by majestic peaks and lovely valleys of the Tell Atlas and the Saharan Atlas.This last chain of mountain will introduce you to the otherworldly Sahara, the perfect place for adventurers and nature lovers. Mysterious lunar landscapes of the volcanic mountains and immense area of golden sand dunes are holding you many surprises and archeological discoveries.

The fertile lands of Algeria, had made this country one of the cradles of humanity and a crossroads of many civilizations: the Berber (indigenous people of North Africa) the Carthaginian, the Roman, the Islamic and finally the Ottoman civilization. Prehistoric paintings, dating of 200000 to 2000 BC, are depicted in the caves of Tassili n’Ajjar in the south proving the very early human occupation of the Algerian south and offering to visitors a real trip back in old times.

Moreover, each of the previously mentioned civilizations has let its prints in the Algerian land. The numerous and various ruins and monuments that are spread all over the Algerian territory are open air museums that narrate by themselves their stories teaching you the rich history of Algeria.

The Algerian history has also been marked with the French colonization which had lasted for more than one century, the very beautiful Haussmanian architectural style of the several coastal towns as Algiers, Annaba, Oran, bears testimony to this long presence.

Algeria is one of the most amazing cultural corners of the world thanks to its rich mix of various cults and traditions. Travelling through Algeria will give you the opportunity to meet people of different ethnicities: Kabylian , Chaoui , Tergui, Chelhi… with specific dialects, traditional ways of dressing and traditional lifestyles.
