Current Roles/Responsibilities - First Nations
• Subject to the policies and authorities of ISC• Own and operate their housing and infrastructure• Secure funding and long-term financing for projects, including developing
infrastructure and housing investment proposals• Manage projects in the:
‒ Design‒ Acquisition‒ Construction‒ Operation and maintenance‒ Monitoring ‒ Decommissioning and final disposal of their community infrastructure
• Undertake activities in accordance with the conditions and accountability requirements of their funding agreement

• ISC provides financial and advisory assistance to First Nations for the development of community infrastructure on reserve
• Funding is invested in: • comprehensive community planning• water and wastewater• housing• education facilities • solid waste• health facilities• emergency management; and • other (e.g. roads and bridges, fire protection, electrification, community and cultural and
recreation facilities)• Public Safety and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation also fund
infrastructure for Indigenous communities, in the areas of policing facilities, housing and shelters
