Run  away

Page 2: first peice for fith grade

The  friends  Autumn,  Zoey,  Edwin  and  Ron  huddled  in  the  heart  of  a  bush,  teeth  rattling,  staring  blankly  at  the  window,  listening  to  all  of  their  parents  howling.    Their  overly

tattooed    and  pierced  parents  were  drinking  alcohol....again.           “We  ought  to  go  guys.”  Dark  eyed  Autumn  persuaded.     “Ron  already,  found  a  place,  for  us  to  run  away  to.”    Autumn  attempted,  again  to  get  the  children,  away  from  their  parents.       “Do  you  all  want  to  stay  here,  and  listen  to  our  parents  curse  and  swear….  or  would  you  much  rather  run  away  and  be  free  in  the  forest.”    It  was  unclear  to  Autumn,  that  they  needed  much  more  food,  for  what  they  were  planning...  A  murmur  of  agreement  came  from  the  rest  and  it  was  clear,  that  they  were  on  their  way  into  the  lush,  green  forest.                                                                                  5  minutes  later     “RON,  when  are  we  going  to  get  to  the  shelter  you  told  us  about?  We  need  it,  we  can’t  be  sick  from  the  cold!”Atumn  yelled  holding  her  arms  to  keep  her  warm  for  Ron  who  knew  nothing  of  sickness  and  they  couldn't    be  ill  at  the  moment.    No  medical  supplies  were  available.

“Well  ..um...  we  just  have  to  go  through  the......  uh  ....the  bush,”Ron  stuttered.       “Edwin,  Zeoy!  Through  the  bush  quickly,”Autumn  clucked,  happily,  with  her  hands  still  holding  her  arms  but  on  the  inside,  she  felt  as  if  her  trust  for  Ron  had    dissolved.    As  Atumn  entered  the  bush,  her  hopes  down,  she  was  thinking  that  whatever  was  there  would  not  be  a  good  place  to  live  ...  mistaken.  As  her  eyes  flew  up  from  the  ground,  awakened  from  the  upsetting  lack  of  trust  Autumn  saw,  what  she  never  expected  ......shelter.      The  glory  of  the  place,  nothing  as  Autumn  expected,  it  was  ......  an  abandoned  fort.      On  the  right  hand  side,  was  a  little  hut  on  stilts  roughly  3  meters  high,    and  two  meters    long,  made  out  of  what  they  thought  was  fir,  covered  in  the  green  ivy,  that  had  grown  on  it  for  the  years.    It  had  been  sitting  around,  waiting  for  something  to  happen,  with  the  sun  wearing  out  all  of  the  wood.      On  the  left  ,  there  was  another  fort,  on  the  bottom  a  giant  wooden  box,  with  an  opening  so  you  could  get  inside,  and  it  had  a  ladder,    enabling  adventures  to  get  to  the  top  floor,  and  in  the  middle  of  the  fort  was  a  beautiful  apple  tree  with  a  large  rock  leaning  on  it.       “It’s  perfect,  nothing  that  I  have  ever  pictured,”Autumn  whispered  with  her  mouth  wide  open.

Page 3: first peice for fith grade

“You  didn’t  trust  me  to  find  a  good  place,”Ron  hollered  to  Autumn.  His  hand  slowly  turned  into  a  fist  at  the  waist  of  his  body.       “No,  it  isn’t  that  I.....  a  ......just  ......um.....  didn’t  expect  something-‐.”Autumn  stuttered  trying  to  keep  Ron’s  feelings  intact.    Her  body  crumpled.       “You  didn’t  Trust  me,”Ron  said  calm  with  anger.  His  face  red  and  straight.

Their  argument  was  interrupted  by  the  straight  faced  Zoey  and  Edwin.     “Guy’s....  how  are  we  supposed  to  survive  if  we  fight,”they  said  together.  Those  words  were  just  the  power  to  stop  the  fight  as  if  it  was  fire  and  the  words  were  water.       “Come  on  we  better  get  to  sleep,”  Zoey  calmly  added.  Ron  and  Autumn    separated  like  a  twig  broken  in  half  Ron  went  left  and  Autumn  went  Right.    Climbing  up  the  ladder,  Zoey  took  a  sniff  of  fresh  forest  air,  the  smells  of  pine,  wild  flower’s,    and  mud.  Mud!  Her  mouth  smiled  and  her  eyes  became  alert  Zoey    thought,  MUD  means  that  there  is  water,  and  water  mean’s  that  there  is  plants  nearby,  maybe  ones  we  could  eat!  Zoey’s  thoughts  only  were  of  that  at  the  moment,  while  Edwin,  in  the  old  blankets  was  trying  to  get  to    sleep,  remembering  how  the  parents  had  abused  them,  by    never  talking  to  them,  and  when  the  kids  didn’t  pour  the  beer  and  wine  into  their  parents  cups  they  were  whipped  on  the  butt,  by  a  long  metal  pole,  about  a  foot  long  an  a  inch  wide.  This  happened  at  the  late  night  parties,  which  were  held  ......every  night  from  8:00pm  to  2:00am  at  some  weird  place.    As  Ron  touched  the  old  wood  his  eyes  closed.    It  was  smooth  in  some  areas  and  rough  in  other  places.    Autumn  was  also  trying  to  get  to  sleep,  she  couldn't  stop  the  flow  of  memories  generating  from  the  smell  of  the  blankets,  the  smell  of  beer  as  the  memories  came  as  fast  as  a  river.    She  was  in  a  moment  of  thought  and  dream  she  saw  a  stream  filled  with  fish.  The  fish  were  the  memories  she  tried  like  a  cat  to  catch  one  plump  fish,    but  all  she  got  were  scrawny  frylings.    She  ate  one  with  her  memory,  thinking  about  how  she  had  drunk  beer  when  she  was  six.  The  taste  was  unwelcoming  to  her,  the  taste  of  the  beer  had  almost  made  her  sick,  the  parents  did  not  care  about  her.         It  was  at  that  very  moment  in  time  she  could  not  even  touch  the  cabinet,  which    was  where  the  cups  were.  It  was  impossible  for  herself  to  get  a  cup  of  water,  so  Autumn  had  been  forced  to  drink  a  can  of  beer.      As  they  slowly  drifted  to  sleep  night  turned  to  day  and  they  all  were  unpleased  with

sharing  the  sleeping  area  with  the  spider’s  and  cobwebs.

Page 4: first peice for fith grade

“Move  that  plant!  NO  you  have  to  move  the  vines  and  wake  up  RON!”Autumn  instructions  were  enough  to,  wake  up  Ron  without  giving  instructions  to  Edwin.    Ron,  hurrying  out  of  the  blankets  to  investigate  what  was  going  on,  had  questions  popping  into  his  head.  Why  is  Autumn  yelling?  Why  do  we  need  changes?  What  .......Vines?    Soon  every  thing  was  answered.....  outside.       “Ron  you’re  up,  finally.    Me  and  Zoey  are  going  to  explore  the  area,  so  we  can  find  food  and  water.”    Atumn’s  instructions  were  calm  unlike  when  he  woke.       “You  and  Edwin  are  going  to  stay  here  and  set  things  up.  you  need  to  do  the  following  thing’s,  clean  the  sleeping  areas,  start  making  a  small  fire  and  find  out  what  is  under  the  vines  without  injuring  them,”    Zoey  added.    Bossy  head’s  Ron  thought  to  himself.    The  list  had  made  Ron  wake  up  just  as  the  two  girls  had  ran  through  the  bush  to  see  new  items  that  would  enrich  their  home.    “Well  I  already  investigated  what  is  under  the  ivy,”  Edwin  calmly  said.      “What  is  under  it  then?”  Ron  asked    “Five  large  flower  pots,”Edwin  continued  trying  to  sound  important.    “Well  then  I’ll  clean  up  the  cobwebs  and  you  clean  the  sleeping  area’s.”  Ron  dreamily  replied      I’ll  start  cleaning  out  our  area  and  you  clean  out  the  girl’s.”  Edwin  spat  out  trying  to  make  it  sound  like  he  was  in  charge.    So  they  worked  their  hands  off  until  everything  was  perfect.       “Guy’s  we  got  to  give  you  a  tour!”Zoey  hollered  as  she  trampled  through  the  bush.       “Were’s  Autumn!?”Ron  questioned  Zoey       “I  don’t  know,  I  didn’t  see  her  once  I  passed  coyote  clearing  into  butterfly  bay.”       “What  and  where  are  those  places?”Ron  interrogated.       “On  the  tour!”Zoey  replied  cheekily.

Page 5: first peice for fith grade

Ron  grunted  in  annoyance.  Something  didn’t  fit  in.  Zeoy  came  through  the  bush  happy  as  can  be  and    Autumn  was  no  where  to  be  seen.....  she  is  either  lost  or  in  trouble.  Ron  thought.         A  groan,  a  rustle,  something  is  watching  us....  Ron  and  Zoey  were  prepared  to  fight  whatever  it  was,  while  Edwin  was  ready  to  run.    Another  groan  came  from  the  thing  and  Autumn  trudged  out  of  the  bush.     “Autumn...  what  happened?”  Edwin  questioned     “The  police  are  after  us....  they  ran  after  a    kid    thinking  they  were  Zoey,  luckily  that  wasn’t  any  of  us,”  Autumn  moaned  Chapter  Two  .......Parents     “Are  you  sure  they  ran  away  and  threatened  to  kill  you  because,  you  have  an  overly  large  thirst  for  alcohol  beverages?”  A  police  questioned  for  the  investigation  for  the  missing  children  Autumn,  Edwin,  Ron.  and  Zoey.     “Positive,”  it  was  Zoey’s  mother  that  spoke,  she  was  dressed  in  a  long  sleeved  blouse,  to  cover  up  all,  of  her  tattoo's.       “Okay  we’ll  come  back  another  time,”it  was  the  police  officer  that  had  spoken  this  time.  He  was  left  looking  at  the  tattoo's  on  some  of  the  parents,  and  smelled  the  foul  oder  of  beer,  that  hung  in  the  air,  it  was  still,  detectable  under  the  very  few  squirts  of  Febreeze.       “Autumn  are  you  sure  that  we  need  to  have  this  tour  because  the  police  are  after  us,”Edwin  fretted.     “Its  fine  the  police  are  checking  the  city  park  right  now.”Autumn  replied  much  happier  than  when  she  had  ran  away  from  the  police.  as  they  all  walked  further  and  further  away  from  their  fort  through  the  bush  Autumn  started  talking.       “Here  we  are  right  out  of  our  lovely  fort  through  the  bush,  is  what  I  like  to  call,  Froggy  Forest,  because  of  some  of  the  nice  little  frogs  that  love,  to  hop  around  over  here.”  So  all  the  kids  stepped  out  of  the  the  bush  that  covered  the  chance  of  seeing  the  fort  from  a  far.  There  were  lots  large  trees  that  had  some  nice  little  bits  of  moss  that  grew  at  the  base  of  the  trees  in  “Froggy  Forest”  the  ground  was  mainly  MUD.        Now  Coming  up  in  front  of  you  is  Coyote  Clearing,  be  careful  because  if  you  step  over  the  edge  you  will    fall  strait  in  to  our  next  stop,  butterfly  bay.  Our  lovely  bay  leading  to    tumble  talon  stream  our  source  of  water  and  fish.  Coyote  clearing  wasn’t  that  fascinating  it  had  some  nice  little  hills  with  at  Autumn’s  so  called  “ledge”  to  make  twitch  different  from  any  other  clearing.  All  the  kids  walked  down  one  of  the  hills  to  get  to  “Butterfly  Bay,”  instead  of  falling  down  the  ledge.    Butterfly  Bay  was  unlike  anything  they  had  ever  seen.

Page 6: first peice for fith grade

It  was  rich  with  plant  life,  the  reeds  had  grown  all  the  way  up  to  their  knees  their  was  also  other  plants  besides  the  reed’s,  the  children  had  decided  to  walk  up  to  the  spring.       It  had  been  3  three  days  since  Autumn  had  shown  them  what  they    thought  technically  was  their  territory.     They  had  also  discovered  unique  features,  that  would  supply  them  with  food,  fish,  apple’s,  crab  apple’s,  rabbits,  chipmunk’s  nuts,  wild  strawberries  and  honey.       A  cool  Autumn  breeze  had  woken  Autumn.  Autumn!  Autumn  thought.  This  had  all  made  sense  to  her.  Why  would  the  apple’s  be  so  ripe,  and  why  would  the  chipmunks  store  their  nut’s?    Answer:  the  leave’s  are  turning  red,  brown  and  golden  for  the  obvious  reason,  the  season  autumn  is  coming!     Autumn  knew  that  the  children  couldn’t  stay  in  the  forest  for  much  longer,  because  what  would  they  do  for  food  in  winter,  how  would  they  survive  the  cold?     “All  down  for  a  talon  clan  meeting!”  Autumn  significantly  shouted  in  the  middle  of  the  clearing.       They  have  called  their  squad  talon  clan.  They  did  not  want  to  call  themselves  a  group,  because  it  made  them  feel  small,  and  why  talon  clan,  they  named  their  group  a  clan  because  a  clan  is  a  big  group,  and  they  named  it  talon  clan  after  their  beautiful  stream,  tumble  talon  stream.    they  had  also  changed  their  names  so  that  they  would  give  up  everything  of  their  past  life,  Autumn  had  changed  her  name  to  Willowpool.  The  others  had  followed  Autumn’s  footsteps  and  had  changed  their  names  Zoey  named  herself  Sunstream  Ron  had  named  himself  Tigerstripe  and  Edwin  named  himself  Leopardspot.  Lepardspot  was  up  first,  Tigerstripe  was  a  heavy  sleeper,  so  he  had  shook  him  until  he  woke.  Sunstream  was  up  and  perky  waiting  below  the  rock  that  leaned  on  the  apple  tree  that  they  had  called  apple  rock.  “Yes  we  all  love  it  here  in  our  forest  that  we  love  to  call  home,  But  one  of  our  worst  fear’s  is  amongst  us  leaf  fall  (the  season  leaf  fall  as  the  call  it  is  fall)  the  leaves  are  turning  red,  gold  and  brown  the  chipmunks  are  storing  their  nuts  and  the  fish  will  die  now  we  will  be  with  them  because  either  the  cold  or  the  food.”Willowpool  announced  teardrop’s  dropping  from  her  eye’s  like  raindrops  on  a  car  window.    “We  need  to  find  a  new  home  now  that  leaf  fall  is  here.”Sunstream  added  also  trying  to  choke  her  tears  down.     chapter  three:  parents,  beer  and  a  car.  “I  can’t  believe  those  wretched  children  ran  away  from  us,  especially  after  we  gave  them  food  out  of  our  own  money,  we  even  gave  them  the  blankets  and  the  best  wine  ever!”  Autumn’s  mother  yelled  with  a  bottle  of  beer  in  one  hand  and  the  steering  wheel  to  the  van  in  her  other  hand.

It  was  a  night  were  all  the  mother’s  of  the  children  that  had  ran  away  from  them,  were  partying.  Chapter  4:Sarah  Willowpool  was  afraid,  never  more  afraid.  She  was  never  more  afraid  all  of  her  life,  she  had  thought,  this  is  how  I  die  in  the  forest,  trying  to  lead  my  clan  to  survive  but  I  fail.    She  was  kneeling  by  the  crab  apple  tree  thinking  about  how  she  could  try  to  survive.  Peering  up  from  the  ground  she  saw  a  girl...  about  Willowpool’s  age  she  was  staring  strait  at  Willowpool  Willowpool  stared  back  she  was  wearing  clean  rubber  boots  and  a  nice  blouse.    The  girl  was  staring  Willowpool’s  mud  striped  face,  ragged  clothes  and  Willowpools  brown  hair,  that  she  covered  in  the  green  ivy  and  oak  leaves,  to  help  herself  disguise  with  the  forest.  The  moment  of  silence  was  nearly  broken  Willowpool,  was  trying  to  decide  to  run  back  into  the  forest,  and  risk  their  secret  place  being  rediscovered,  or  talk  to  the  girl  and  ask  for  shelter  for  the  winter.  She  decided  to  talk  to  the  girl.  “What  is  your  name,”  the  girl  asked  in  a  voice  so  calm.  Willowpool  was  about  to  say  Autumn  but  quickly  replied  saying  “Willowpool.”  “Interesting  name,”  the  girl  replied  “Well  then  what  is  your  name,”Willowpool  asked  “Sarah,”  she  replied  “do  you  live  in  there,  “Sarah  asked  pointing  to  the  forest  “Yes,”Willowpool  replied  “well  you  do  know  that  winter  is  coming,  “Sarah  interrogated  “yes  that  is  why  I  didn’t  run  away  from  away  from  you…..  my  friends  and  I  need  another  place  to  stay.  Could  you  help  us?”  Willowpool’s  words  of  her  choice  of  reply  were  so  insonante    clear  and  brisk.  That  Sarah  said  “Yes,”                                                                            3  days  later    “Whens  Sarah  coming  back?”Sunstream  (Zoey)  questioned,  the  4  children  had  abandoned    the  forest  and  fled  from  winter  into  Sarah’s  family  owned  berry  patch,  they  had  been  living  in  one  of  the  sheds,  waiting  every  day  for  Sarah,  and  all  of  the  kids  of  her  foster  family  to  return  to  the  shed,  with  some  left  over  scraps  of  dinner  breakfast  and  lunch  to  eat  for  their  very  small  meal.    There  were  5  children  in  the  foster  family  Sarah,  Billy,  Bessie,  Franklin  and  Martha    There  was  the  sound  of  rubber  boots  squishing  in  the  mud  and  soil  that  had  surrounded  the  shed  which  is  were  the  children  had  been  living  for  the  past  day.  Once  Sunstream  (Zoey)  had  heard  the  boots  squishing  the  mud  and  soil  Sunstream  had  ran  out  of  the  shed  rushing  to  greet  Sarah  like  a  pup  that  had  been  kept  at  home  while  its  owner  had  been  at  school…  once  you  open  that  door  the  sad  pup  worried    about  you  would  rush  up  to  greet  you  nothing  could  stop  it.  As  Sunsteam  ran  out  the  door  of  the  shed  before  Willowpool  could  tell  Leppordspot  (Edwin)  or  Tigerstripe  (Ron)  to  stop  Sunstream  from  getting  in  trouble.

Page 8: first peice for fith grade

Sunstream  stoped  dead  in  her  tracks  it  wasn’t  Sarah  that  had  been  outside  the  shed  it  was  the  police!  Chapter:5  home  “Are  you  Zoey  Edmonds  are  you  not?”  the  police  asked  Sunstream|Zoey    “That  was  a  PAST  LIFE!  My  Name  now  is  SUNSTREAM.”  Zoey|Sunstream  spat  out  at  the    police.  “So  you  are  Zoey  Edmonds?”The  police  asked  “Was  ,Zoey  Edmonds  I  am  now  Sunstream,”Zoey\Sunstream  yelled  at  the  police.  “Me  and  the  rest  of  talonclan  have  changed  our  Identities  …  we  will  fight  for  freedom  and  not  to  go  back  to  our  past  life  being  abused    by  our  parents.”Zoey  spoke  with  the  words  so  soft  and  stern  fighting  for  her  freedom.  “We  know  you  were  being  abused  “Sunstream”    if  you  tell  me  were  Autumn  Camlot,  Edwin  Carol  and  Ron  Sanfrimont  you  will  be  able  to  go  to  a  nice  new  foster  home  with  all  your  friends,”  the  police  replied  worried  she  woudn’t  say  were  they  were.  A  week  later  Willowpool    and  her  friends  had  gone  through  the  sheets  of  paper  to  allow  them  to  have  foster  parents,  who  well…  Sarahs  family  was  their  new  family.  They  had  fought  for  what  they  believed  in  not  what  someone  else  believed  but
