Are you Ready? Royce Bailey Associate Pastor Children

This past Sunday Dr. Bobby Welch brought a prophet’s word to our church. He used the Word of God to stir our hearts in preparation for the man God will bring to lead us as Senior Pastor. If you did not hear the sermon on the morning of October 16, treat your soul and get the CD.

Along these same thoughts of anticipation of a new Pastor, the Lord pricked my heart as I was reading in the book of Luke. In Luke 7:24-28, Jesus gives the heavenly affirmation of John the Baptist and the work he was doing in clearing the way for Jesus. John the Baptist was unlike any prophet ever. He was rough, tough and cut straight to the heart when he preached. In other words, he was a cornbread and buttermilk preacher. Pretty plain!

Jesus questioned the crowd as to what they went to see in the wilderness. “A reed shaken by the wind? A man clothed in soft garments?” In other words, Jesus said they had such a preconceived notion about the man they couldn’t hear the message. Wow, what about us?

As we anticipate the man of God that will lead us as Senior Pastor, are we filled with selfish questions or are we anticipating the Word of God spoken through the Man of God? I have been challenged not to look at the man or his appearance but to listen for the voice of God. I encourage each of us to pray as never before, to work as never before, to anticipate as never before as we welcome and co-labor with our new Pastor. For our Lord’s glory!

Within days you will be blessed to meet your potential new pastor. This is a day for which we have all been praying.

Your Pastor Search Committee has lovingly and diligently sought God’s man. Their extensive effort has been bathed in prayer by this congregation. Everyone who has prayed for their efforts can rejoice that our loving Lord has answered our prayers.

I know and love your potential pastor. You will also. I have preached in his church and heard his people speak so positively of him, his wife, and their family. He has cultivated a warm and friendly church with an atmosphere not unlike FBC Sevierville.

He is a very good pulpiteer and of equal importance a people person. As a couple, he and his wife embody social graces. As a preacher, he combines conservative scholarship with wit and wisdom. When your new pastor stands before you, you can be certain great diligence has been used in seeking him. The committee has considered this a spiritual endeavor and sought the mind of the Father from the beginning.

Ephesians 4:11 states, “He gave some (to be)...pastors and teachers...”

Note, “He (Christ) gave some...”

A pastor is Jesus’ gift to His church. He who receives a gift receives the giver. He who rejects a gift rejects the giver. In receiving him, you honor the One who through your Pastor Search Committee is giving him to you.

One factor regarding your new pastor. He will be one blessed man to come to this church. God is smiling on him. From day one, I have said there is no room for ego, but occasion for gratitude that our loving Lord has used you who comprise this membership to grow a rare church. I know he is leaving people who love him. I also know what he is soon to experience. He is coming into a loving fellowship. You have proven yourselves to be.

“Miss” Trudy and I came here knowing we would be leaving. In God’s perfect time, we will. We will go with hearts of thanksgiving for the honor of serving with you. We are in no hurry, but we at Gods’ disposal. In the mean time, let’s continue to grow in grace and knowledge.

In Christ,

Nelson L. Price

First Baptist Church on Mission Scott Andrews Associate Pastor Worship/Missions

The Missions Committee has planned several mission trips for the coming year. These mission projects must have people. Our plans for 2011–2012 include the following with approximate dates. We hope to have all the dates finalized in the next few weeks. If you are interested, we would appreciate you calling the Missions Office, 429-6303 and let us know of your interest.

Orbit Village Project – Late Winter/Early Spring We will be working with the children of Orbit Village as well as the church there, Orbit Baptist Church. We will also be working with the Orbit Baptist Church, Mathare with the primary project of conducting a crusade in one of the largest slums in the world.

Haiti - TBD We are still on call to help in this Disaster Relief project. This mission project will require strong backs as we continue to help the Haitian people recover.

kingdom has been impacted by young men and

women who have made decisions to surrender

to full time ministry while attending the

conference.

Hearts On Fire has welcomed the likes of such

speakers as Will Graham, Kirk Cameron, Tony

Nolan, David Nasser, Dave Edwards, Sean

McDowell and the phenomenal music of Third

Day, Casting Crowns, 33 Miles, Charlie Hall.

Leader

Hearts On Fire is led by Scott Carter. His life’s

goal is to point young people toward the Father

and for their hearts to burn with a commitment

to Christ!

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is God’s Holy and

inerrant Word. It is God’s way of being a “lamp to

Ukraine Orphanages – May It is our hope that we can send a team of folks to join with other churches in ministering to the boys and girls whose lives have been severely affected by poverty and despair. We will work in several orphanges through out the country of Ukraine. Time is of the essence in putting this team together. If you are interested, please contact us today. We only have a short time to make a go/no-go decision.

West Africa - TBD Our association and state convention are partnering with the Jos people of Nigeria. We are looking at several different projects available to us and will have more details soon.

Delaware - July We will return again in the summer of 2012 to conduct a music camp for the the folks of High Tide Baptist Church. This event has become a highlight of their summer and a great outreach tool for the church. Anyone who has participated in our music camp here at FBC would be equipped to participate in this mission endeavor.

Montana - Late Summer/Early Fall As we continue our partnership with the Gallatin Valley Baptist Church, we have been asked to come and help them in a community project doing maintenance, repair and paint work.

The Missions Committee is also currently considering local mission projects here in our very own Appalachia. There are folks with great needs here in our back door and we want to participate in those projects. These will be short-term and require minimal travel.

God has led us to be an Acts 1:8 church. We could not go without the financial and prayer support of His people. Pray about where God might use you and let us know today.

our feet and a light to our path,” (Psalm 119:105).

We believe in the Trinity...the Father, the Son, and

the Holy Ghost. All distinct, but yet three in one.

We believe that there is only one way to Heaven

and that is through Jesus Christ the perfect Lamb

of God. We believe that anyone who asks the

Father for forgiveness of their sins, with a

repentant and surrendered heart, becomes a

child of God. Hearts On Fire is open to all

denominations. We do however, affirm and

identify with the Baptist faith and message.

Mission

Our mission is to evangelize those without Christ.

We want every believer who attends the confer-

ence to leave with the gift of God ablaze in their

hearts. “This is why I remind you to fan into

flames the spiritual gift God gave you…”

~II Timothy 1:6

Hearts on Fire

burning within us while He talked with us on the

road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32

Who We Are

Hearts On Fire is a youth evangelism conference

that began in 1986. The desire of Hearts On Fire

is to see middle and high school students find

an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus

Christ. We passionately reach out to believers by

encouraging them in their walk with the Lord

while also challenging them to walk in the truth

and integrity of Christ.

Over the past 25 years Hearts On Fire has grown

from 150 attendees to over 8,000 attendees. We

have seen literally thousands of teenagers come

to faith in Christ and countless lives changed. The
