The old saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a few hours and it will change” may be funny to some, but reality to others. But someone else once said. “Imagine if we could control it, it would even be more unpredictable”. Those two statements may be true, but I try to remember I’m only responsible for what I can control. We take pride in our Character Counts program. Students are rewarded for exhibiting the traits of a Super Hero. Some of those traits include caring, responsibility, self-control, citizenship, kindness, cooperation, respectfulness, and fairness. Interestingly enough, all those traits are all under the control of the beholder. I am amazed at the Super Hero qualities I see in our students, your children. Super Hero traits are learned. Let us continue to work together to model and teach Super Hero traits at home, at school, and in the community. Thank you for entrusting your most precious with us. Dear Parents,

Don’t we all love Ohio weather?

“Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure

of our thanksgiving.” --WT Purkiser

Our theme this year is “Prince Caspian”. Our

goals are to promote family reading time, encourage visits

to the Canal Fulton Public Library and instill the love of

reading.

Students who meet monthly reading goals will

receive reading charms and those who reach their year-

end goal will receive the official reading club t-shirt

(awarded for reading 2,400 minutes). The entire school

will be reading with the hope of reaching the goal of

1,400,000 minutes.

If the goal is reached, Mr. LaRiccia will wear a

character’s costume on the last day of school. Students

can watch the progress of their class on the bulletin board

by the library where classroom totals will be displayed.

Family Night out

KISS THE PIG IS ANOTHER SUCCESS! Thanks for grabbing all your spare change to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project ® which helps

thousands of injured warriors returning from the battlefield by providing assistance to their families and Akron Children’s Hospital which works with many in our school and community.

Over $1,800 was collected. Each class had a collection jar that looked like a pig. The teachers from each grade with the most money collected received honors to “KISS THE PIG”! This year’s honorees were Miss McCallin, Miss Poppovich, and Mr. Holcomb.
