Fisher™ ES and EAS Sliding-Stem Control ValvesFisher ES and EAS general-purpose control valves(figures 1 and 2) are used for throttling or on-offcontrol of a wide variety of liquids and gases. Bothvalve designs have single ports, unbalanced valveplugs, and cage guiding.
In both designs, metal-to-metal seating is standard forall general applications over a wide range of pressuredrops and temperatures. Metal-to-PTFE seating isoptional for more stringent shutoff requirements.
The Fisher ES product line is available for a wide rangeof applications, including sulfide and chloridestress-cracking environments common to the oil andgas production industries. To discuss availableconstructions, contact your Emerson sales office orLocal Business Partner and include the applicablecodes and standards required for these environments.
The easy-e™ Valve Family
ES and EAS valves are part of the versatile easy-e familyof Fisher industrial control valves. easy-e valves sharethe following characteristics.
 Multiple trim material choices
Trim temperature capability with standard metalseats to 427C (800F)
 Flexible graphite gaskets
Interchangeable, restricted-capacity trims andfull-flow trims to match variable process flowdemands
Trim part interchangeability that permitsreconfiguring the valve to a different designvariation

Different cage/plug styles provide particular flowcharacteristics for highly-specialized applications. The standard cage comes in three different flowcharacteristics:
 quick-opening linear equal percentage
Whisper Trim I cages (figure 1) that attenuateaerodynamic noise in gaseous service are availablefor all sizes except the NPS 8 ES valve.
Optional constructions provide materialcompatibility with NACE MR0175-2002.
316 stainless steel packing box parts are standard(including packing flange, studs, and nuts).

Features Compliance with the Clean Air Act— Optional
ENVIRO-SEAL™ packing systems (figure 3) providean improved stem seal to help prevent the loss ofprocess fluid. The ENVIRO-SEAL packing systemsfeature PTFE, Graphite ULF, or Duplex packing withlive-loading for reduced packing maintenance.
Valve Plug Stability— Rugged cage guiding providesincreased valve plug stability, which reducesvibration and mechanical noise.
Economy— Streamlined flow passages providehigher efficiency and greater capacities per initialinvestment.
Cost-Effective Operation— Increased wearresistance of the standard hardened stainless steeltrim means long-lasting service. Also, trim inventorycosts are cut because dimensional standardizationpermits use of most standard easy-e trim parts.
Easy Maintenance— The valve can stay in thepipeline during removal of trim parts for inspectionor maintenance.
Long-Lasting Shutoff Capability with PTFE Seating—Controlled compression of optional seatconstruction protects PTFE disk between metal diskseat and disk retainer (figure 1). The flowstreamcontacts only the edge of the disk during normaloperation.
Compliance with European Standards— Valves areavailable with dimensions specified by EN/DINstandards. See figure 7 and the note in figure 8.
Sour Service Capability— Unless otherwise noted, references are to NACE MR0175-2002. Optionalmaterials are available to meet NACE MR0103 andNACE MR0175 / ISO15156. Material requirementsunder these standards vary by edition and year ofissue; the specific standard must be specified.

ENVIRO-SEAL, HIGH-SEAL Packing SystemsENVIRO-SEAL and HIGH-SEAL packing systems offerexcellent sealing capabilities. They easily install in yourexisting valves or can be purchased with new valves. These systems may help prevent the loss of processfluid. The long operational life and reliability of thesesystems also helps to reduce your maintenance costsand downtime.
For applications requiring compliance withenvironmental protection regulations, the uniqueFisher ENVIRO-SEAL packing system (figure 3) and aunique ENVIRO-SEAL bellows seal system (figure 4) areoffered. The emission control packing system helps tokeep emission concentrations below the EPA 100 ppmrequirement.
For an excellent stem seal in applications that are notenvironmentally-sensitive, the Fisher HIGH-SEAL
Graphite ULF packing system is offered. TheHIGH-SEAL packing system provides excellent sealingat pressure/temperature ratings beyond ENVIRO-SEALlimits.
ENVIRO-SEAL packing systems, available with PTFE,Graphite ULF, or Duplex packing, and the HIGH-SEALpacking systems, Graphite ULF and graphitecomposite, feature live-loading and uniquepacking-ring arrangements for long-term, consistentsealing performance.
Class VI ShutoffCapabilitiesES valves with metal seat constructions can provideANSI/FCI Class VI shutoff capabilities. See tables 1 and2.

1. These in-body process temperatures assume an outside, ambient temperature of 21C (70F) and no insulation on the bonnet. When using any packing at low process temperatures, a castextension bonnet may have to be used to prevent packing damage which could result from the formation of valve stem frost. Material selection for trim and other components will also belimiting factors.

Figure 6. Typical Trim Use for All Valve Bodies Except Those for NACE Specifications
Note:Do not exceed the maximum pressure and temperature for the pressure rating of thebody material used, even though the trims shown may have higher capabilities.Be especially careful to specify service temperature if trims 3, 4, or 37 are selected, asdifferent thermal expansion rates required special plug clearances, Also, use trim 37 insteadof trim 4 for nonlubricating fluids such as superheated steam or dry gases between 149 and316C (300 and 600F).Trims 4 and 29 can be used to pressure drop shown only with clean, dry gas. For otherthan clean, dry gas, trims 4 and 29 can be used only up to 21 bar (300 PSI).Use trim 27 instead of trim 29 for nonlubricating fluids such as superheated steam ordry gases between 149 and 316C (300 and 600F).
