FIVE SAX is a modern-style saxophone quintet featuring �ve musicians from around the world.

The individual members of FIVE SAX are all established solo musicians, who represent a signi�cant international presence and hold many prizes from important national and international competitions. The members converged in Vienna from around the world, united by a modern conception of virtuosity and the constant urge to push the limits of performance.

The �ve musicians from Poland, Italy, Belgium, the USA and Chile each brings his own unique and vibrant personality to the group. The ensemble's imaginative programming mirrors the diversity of its members; rooted in classical music, while venturing into American jazz, south-American Latin styles and European folk music.

The ensemble began in an unusual way: performing street theater in the center of Vienna. Their �rst year performing together was an unforgettable experience of running from the police, surviving freezing temperatures and dealing with angry shopkeepers. The ensemble's past is echoed in their concerts by their use of theatrical elements, their strong connection with the audience, and their spontaneous approach to making music.

Every moment of the 90-minute show is choreographed and performed by memory, which makes for an engaging, whirlwind audience experience. The performance is packed with surprises intended for both novice and experienced listeners, and the show is appropriate for audiences of all ages.

FIVE SAX invites you to join them on an unforgettable musical journey. The multi-continental trip begins in the legendary capital of music: Vienna, with a look back at some timeless classics of the past. Then we jump on a train to explore the rich ethnic musical styles of Spain, Italy, Hungary and the Balkans. From there we hop on a �ight to Rio de Janeiro to experience the seductive rhythms of Brazilian Bossa Nova, the passion of Argentine Tango and a visit to the mythic Columbian town of Macondo. For the last stop of our voyage, we touch down in sunny Los Angeles where we rediscover some of the most famous Hollywood hits.

There's just one problem... one of the performers still hasn't arrived! Every musician's biggest nightmare becomes reality: the show begins with only four out of �ve musicians on stage. What happens when the �fth one �nally shows up?

Tango NuevoFIVE SAX checks in at the exotic Buenos Aires to pay homage to one of the most famous musicians of the 20th century and godfather of the modern tango: Astor Piazzolla! FIVE SAX presents a selection of their favorite tangos, where beauty and sweeping rhythm go hand in hand, topped o� with some staged choreography. Please notice how shiny our shoes are!

ThrillerLate on a quiet night, one of the musicians enters his attic in search of a saxophone mouthpiece. Absolute darkness, wind blowing outside, creaking �oors and rusty doors set an ominous mood for something scary about to happen.Walking on his tiptoes and bumping into walls, the brave guy �nally �nds the chest where he keeps all of his saxophone accessories. There it is! The mouthpiece is laying at the bottom. Now time to get the hell out of there...wait...what's that sound? It's the Italian Zombie!

Maestro Lully (based on the music by Jean-Baptiste Lully)French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully holds a special place in the history of music. He is known as the most important composer of the French Baroque, he was the master of the Royal Orchestra during the rule of Louis XIV, and his untimely death is one of the most bizarre stories in the history of music. FIVE SAX takes trip back in time to see Maestro Lully in action as he leads the court orchestra to new musical heights ...and unexpected danger.

The Girl from Ipanema (based on the music by Antônio Carlos Jobim)When placed in the right hands, the saxophone's power of seduction is unmatched. The band takes a trip to South America with their instruments ready for action, but they are in for quite a surprise! Is it love at �rst sight, or a date gone terribly wrong?

Polkissima (Italian Polka)For the grand �nale, the impossible becomes possible right in front of your very eyes. With one challenging acrobatic stunt after another, the Five Sax team dares to push the boundaries of instrumental performance into new, uncharted territory.
