  • Being a Witness

  • Psalm 66:16Common English Bible (CEB)

  • Come close and listen, all you who honor God; I will tell you what God has done for me:

  • Watch Your

    Words

  • Matt. 15:16-20Common English Bible (CEB)

  • Jesus said, “Don’t you understand yet?

Don’t you know that everything that goes

into the mouth enters the stomach and goes

    out into the sewer?

  • But what goes out of the mouth comes

from the heart. And that’s what

contaminates a person in God’s sight.

  • Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adultery, sexual sins, thefts, false testimonies,

    and insults.

  • These contaminate a person in God’s sight. But eating without washing

    hands doesn’t contaminate in

    God’s sight.”

  • A Lying Witness

  • Exodus 20:16Common English Bible (CEB)

  • Do not testify falsely against your neighbor.

  • What Type of Witness?

  • Proverbs 14:25Common English Bible (CEB)

  • A truthful witness saves lives,

    but a deceiver proclaims lies.

  • "Call Your Witness."

  • Isaiah 43:10-13Common English Bible (CEB)

  • You are my witnesses, says the Lord, my servant, whom I chose, so

that you would know and believe

me and understand that I am the one.

  • Before me no god was formed; after

me there has been no other.

  • I, I am the Lord, and there is no savior

    besides me.

  • I announced, I saved, I proclaimed, not

some stranger among you. You are my

witnesses, says the Lord, and I am God.

  • From the dawn of time, I am the one. No one can escape

my power. I act, and who can undo it?

  • Witnesses Testify

  • John 1:6-8Common English Bible (CEB)

  • A man named John was sent from God.

  • He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him everyone would believe in the light.

  • He himself wasn’t the light, but his mission

was to testify concerning the light.

  • Acts 1:8Common English Bible (CEB)

  • Rather, you will receive power when the Holy

Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my

witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and

to the end of the earth.”

  • Confession

  • 1 Timothy 6:12Common English Bible (CEB)

  • Compete in the good fight of faith. Grab hold of

eternal life—you were called to it, and you made a good confession of it in

    the presence of many witnesses.

  • What Did The Witness

    Witness?

  • Hebrews 12:1-2Common English Bible (CEB)

  • So then let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us, since we

have such a great cloud of witnesses

    surrounding us.

  • Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us

up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faith’s

    pioneer and perfecter.

  • He endured the cross, ignoring the shame,

for the sake of the joy that was laid out in

front of him, and sat down at the right side

    of God’s throne.

  • So What?

  • How Does This Relate to Being

    United Methodist as a Witness?

  • As United Methodists, We Are

“To Be A WITNESS” And We Are

    “To Be WITNESSED”

  • Looking Beyond

    These Five Weeks

  • Beyond These Five Weeks, We Need To

    LIVE INTO Being United

Methodist and LIVE OUT Our Faith.

  • These Five Aspects of Being United
