Dear Ms. Cook,

The Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club would like to request to host the “2012 FLEX English Preparatory

Program” currently schedule from August 4th to August 25th in the city of Milwaukee.

Children have been coming to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee since 1887, when Annabell

Cook Whitcomb transformed two basement rooms at Plymouth Church in downtown Milwaukee into a

club for boys.

Today, we are the oldest and largest youth-serving agency in the city. Everyday, thousands of

Milwaukee’s most disadvantaged youth stream through our doors and meet positive role models, feel

safe and secure and participate in life-changing programming.

Our mission is simple: to inspire and empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to

realize their potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The nine future leaders arriving on a Department of State scholarship fit neatly into this mission – they

have bravely chosen to explore a new environment and need help to filfull their goals. In fact, at the

Mary Ryan branch we currently have two J-1 Visa club members who are exchange students and

members of the club. They have litterally made the world smaller and more reachable for students who

have little or no access to new customs and cultures from different parts of the world.

In order to make this program possible, the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club would ask the Center for

Cultural Interchange to provide the following:

-  $150 a student ($1,350)

-  Written confirmation that once CCI secures funding they will use the Mary Ryan club.

-  Written confirmation that CCI will find and pay for an English teacher to work 20 hours a

week for three weeks.

-  Confirmation that the FLEX students will volunteer for at least 20 hours at the club during

their three week program.

-  Permission to use the FLEX students in public relations releases.

In return for the following, the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club would provide to the Center for Culutral

Interchange the following:

At the Mary Ryan Boys & Girls Club we applaud the efforts the Center for Cultural Interchange is

making to promote cultural understanding, academic development, environmental consciousness and

world peace. We would like to partner with you to make this unique experience memorable and

worthwhile and set these nine students up for success as they pursue their educational endeavors.

As stated previously, written confirmation of our collaboration will secure classroom space as well as

nine spaces in our August Summer Camp. We look forward to your reply and continuing to work with

your amazing organization.

Respectfully,
