Eco-friendly

CosyPUR™ BALANCE

A viscoelastic and supersoft system based on renewable raw materials.

Lupranol® BALANCE

For basic materials, BASF provides an environmentally-friendly

solution for flexible slabstock foam. Lupranol® BALANCE is a

natural oil polyol (NOP) from the castor-oil plant and can be

used as a 100 per cent drop-in for any other conventional

slab polyol.

Pressure absorption

BASF’s flexible PU system with adjustable

product properties, due to its cell morphology,

is used for producing memory foam pillows.

Given its wide range of foam properties,

from ultrasoft to visco-elastic, our PU

system is acclaimed for its ability to absorb

pressure, maintain the shape and support

of bedding items and create optimal

comfort for resting.

Design freedom

Flexible PU systems from BASF cover

a wide processing range to meet the

requirements of various applications with very

simple formulations.

Manufacturers and designers are given a high

degree of design freedom to turn flexible PU

foams into any shape or style for bedding and

furniture products that the imagination allows.

Whether it carries an irregular, round or rectangular

shape, the material facilitates the design of ergonomic

furniture to provide comfort catering to the physical

conditions of specific users, such as moulded parts used in

orthopedics, something particularly beneficial for its versatility.

Greater elasticity and comfort

The BASF PU system can be formulated to achieve varying levels of hardness and

recovery properties. Soft or firm, fast to slow resilient - everything is possible

with Polyurethane Solutions.

Viscoelastic foam, with its special cell structure, is slow in recovery

and soft but supportive. It is also temperature sensitive in its

indentation hardness and follows the curve of a human body

while maintaining the firm feel of a high-resilient foam.

Viscoelasticity can also be retained over a wide

temperature range.

Good air permeability and breathability

The open-cell structure of flexible

polyurethane foam results in improved

breathability of mattress and pillow products

preventing any build-up of heat and

moisture for enhanced user comfort.

Reduced ignitability

The BASF flexible PU systems with flame

retardants can attain a lower level of

ignitability, complying with international

safety standards for several types of

upholstered furniture. Our systems can

also be adjusted to meet the international

standards* even without flame retardants, thus

reducing impact on the environment and being

more healthy to sleep upon.

A good night’s sleep begins with the right mattress and pillow.

Good bedding materials should be firm enough to support the neck, back

and body while offering plenty of cushioning comfort.

CosyPUR™ and Elastoflex® flexible foams used in pillows and mattresses

provide unparalleled comfort and ultimate relaxation. The key benefits of

CosyPUR™ flexible foam are viscoelastic and being air permeable. It follows

the outline of the head and body and responds to a body’s temperature and

weight for optimum pressure relief.

Working, chilling, sleeping – at the heart of all relaxation

Home Furniture

Furniture designers and manufacturers are prime beneficiaries of the

versatility polyurethane can produce in any style - be it extravagant, classic

or voluminous - in meeting customer demand for design diversity.

Polyurethane flexible foams made of Elastoflex® and Elastofoam® can

accommodate any design for aesthetic and functional purposes in several

types of home furniture, from designer chairs, sofas, baby seats to bathtub

pillows.

And, they can also be foamed around inserts made of wood or metal to give

furniture the necessary stability.

Office Furniture

Office furniture with molded foam cushioning from Elastoflex®, Elastofoam®

and Elastoskin™ retains their hardness and contours for years. The resulting

comfort and ergonomically-designed seating enables employees to work

more efficiently.

Furniture parts can be securely bonded to these foams in cost-effective

ways for an array of cushioning - from armrests, seating cushions to

backrests, among other uses - to deliver a combination of design flexibility,

user comfort and other added-value elements.

In addition, they make for complete curving, even in tiny parts, and are ideal

for direct back-foaming of coverings and come with integrated fastening

and support elements for thin seat cushions.

Public Seating

Elastoflex®, Elastofoam® and Elastoskin™ are foam products designed

especially for seating in public venues, such as theatres, cinema houses,

arcades and airports, among others, that are subject to heavy daily usage.

Using these products enables furniture makers to develop ergonomically-

designed upholstery cores to realize targeted levels of hardness and

elasticity.

In addition to comfort, these furniture foams must also be fire-resistant. The

chemical structure of this material can be altered to achieve minimal smoke

density and toxicity.
