1 What’s New in Flexsim Version 4.5?This document outlines the new features and enhancements introduced in Flexsim Version 4.5.

1.1 New Screen Layout

• Moved the run control buttons from the bottom of the window to the top.

• Added various modes at the top of the window for connecting / selecting / creating objects as an alternative to holding keys down while click-dragging.

1.2 Easier Connecting of Objects

• Some cursor changes have been added for easier understanding of what is going on.

• Rather than “downclick-drag-upclick” to connect objects, you can “click-click” objects to connect. The yellow line and cursor is indicative of what is going on.

1.3 Ability to Tab Views together

• The Orthographic, Perspective, Planar, and Tree views can be tabbed together by clicking on a window to move it, dragging it on top of another window, hovering the mouse still for a moment, and releasing the mouse when the black outline appears on the window below.

• You can drag tabs out of windows by clicking on the tab and dragging it outside the window it is in.

1.4 Modelling Utilities replaces the Sidebar

• The sidebar options on the Orthographic / Perspective / Tree views are now individual windows accessed through the View > Modeling Utilities menu.

• The windows in Modeling Utilities can also be tabbed together in the same way as described in the previous section.

1.5 Enhanced Global Preferences Functionality

• You can save your workspace in the Environment tab of the Global Preferences window. New models will then open with your default workspace rather than just the library and Orthographic windows.

• You can also revert your windows back to that saved default workspace through the Window menu.

• You can now have your own custom built User Libraries automatically load upon launching Flexsim.

• You can add buttons to the Toolbar through the Global Preferences window.

1.6 Parameters and Properties combined onto one Tab

• The Parameters and Properties windows for all the default Flexsim objects have been combined onto one tab.

1.7 Enhanced Functionality of Global Tables

• The Global table widget including copy / paste functionality directly from Excel has been improved.

• Extra Global Table Commands have been added.

1.8 Other Features and Enhancements• Scrollbar to the tree view.• Changed the Flexscript builder and parser. Building and running Flexscript code is now

significantly faster.• Added the BasicConveyor to the Library Icon Grid.• Allowed use of 3D shape frames for user-defined moving parts of various Task

Executers.• Added a model OnReset trigger in Tools > Model Triggers.• Added an OnStateChange event. This attribute currently must be added from the Tree to

individual objects. It is not in the objects’ default GUIs.• Added the highlighted object’s state to the Orthographic status bar.• Changed the default colours in the state chart for easier reading.
