Flint Hill School is a place of tremendous energy,

activity, and learning. We call this passion for life the

“Driving Spirit.” Our mission as a school is quite

sincere and direct. We strive for excellence in all

that we do. To achieve that goal, we nurture and

value the contributions of every individual member

in our School Family.

The foundation of all of this activity is our

commitment to ethical leadership and character

development. We pride ourselves on our ability to

foster sound training in civility, leadership, and an

overriding sense of “doing what is right.” Service

learning opportunities, club activities, student

council, and peer support groups help us promote

our Principles of Ethical conduct: Respect,

Responsibility, Honesty, and Compassion.

Community of

Learners

Our goal has always been to teach

responsively and in ways that promote deep

learning. We know this happens when

students can access information in a variety

of ways. For example, when reading an

assigned article, students may initially retain

a portion of the material. However, if they

then participate in a debate on the topic—

verbally in class or in an online blog—and

then create visual summaries of the debated

points, their retention increases and—more

importantly—so does their ability to apply

that knowledge in new contexts. Deep

learning is fostered when analysis,

collaboration, choice, and creativity are all

part of the learning process. This in turn

expands a student’s ability to work with that

new knowledge.

6% Debt Service: Principal and interest payments on loan.

5% Auxiliary Enterprises: Includes Special and Summer Programs, the lunch program for both campuses, theSchool Store, and special events.

3% Instructional: Faculty and Staff professional development and hiring costs, all Department and Division-related expenses, Athletics, Fine Arts, Library, College Counseling, Learning Center, Counseling.

3% General and Administrative: Headmaster’s Office, Advancement, Admission, publication expenses, supplies, postage, and other School administrative costs.

94% Tuition and Fees: Gross tuition income, application fees, technology fees, transportation fees, and private music lesson fees.

2% Annual Fund: Unrestricted giving whichsupports the FHS operating budget. This is thenumber one fundraising priority of the School.

1% Parents’ Association: Gift to the FHSoperating budget of funds raised by PA eventssuch as the Gala, Husky Holiday Mart, and the FHS Golf Invitational.

3% Auxiliary Enterprises: Gross income from Summer and Special Programs, LS/MSLunch program, and School Store.

<1% Interest Income-Operating Fund: Interest earned on the FHS operating

budget funds.

FHS Parents give of their time regularly andin many ways - reading to the youngerstudents, helping to answer phones indifferent offices, concessions, stuffing andmailing envelopes for the Annual Fund,organizing faculty and staff appreciation, orplanning for one of the larger Parents’Association-sponsored events, such as theTennis Social, Homecoming, the HuskyHoliday Mart, Winterfest, the Gala andAuction, Grandparents' and Special Friends'Day, and the Golf Invitational.

company will match the value of your gift to Flint Hill School

dollar for dollar, thus doubling its value. Please check with
