adfsd•Two consortium libraries decided to stay with current vendor while seven decided to move to OCLC WMS

•College presidents had to vote to approve changes to the bylaws and the contract for OCLC WMS.

• Last day to use old ILS July 7, 2012

• Data migration October 25, 2012

• Because of this gap in service, OCLC gave us access to a WMS circulation shell

The college presidents and CFOs felt that because we no longer shared a server we no longer needed a shared system administrator.

They asked OCLC to bill each college individually rather than bill the consortium.

The college presidents voted to dissolve the consortium in May 2013.

•Our students love WorldCat Local and how easy it is to use.•Sparked faculty interest:

Increased requests for information literacy instruction:

2011-2012 45 faculty requests 734 students taught

2012-2013 72 faculty requests 1,241 students taught

2013-2014 80 faculty requests so far 1268 students taught

Biggest change

Page 13: Flipping your library

“There was an abundance of training, all extremely well done. I never felt that "This is over my head" nor was it boring.”

ILL: With WorldCat Local our ILL went up 47% the first year and is up an additional 50% so far this year.

“We had to learn a new system, but it’s so easy to use!”

Serials assistant now helping with ILL.

We added summary holdings of our periodicals to OCLC.

“With our old ILS the catalogers from each institution had to meet frequently to figure out how to handle problems and there were a lot of problems caused by sharing the system. We don’t have those problems now. It’s a startling difference.”

“Cataloging is just so much easier in OCLC WMS.”

Acquisitions:

Cataloging items as we receive them.

Best of all:

All acquisitions records in one place.

Our acquisitions assistant has time to spend on organizing and cataloging our archives and special collections and overseeing the yearbook.

Weeded 91,000 Federal DocumentsOur student employees listed them for weeding. A long and arduous task. We are now digital and OCLC WMS Knowledgebase automates adding our digital holdings to our catalog.
