THE GREETER Newsletter of the Florence Welcoming Club25th Anniversary Year Now in its 25th year, the Florence Welcoming Club has been introducing newcomers to one another and helping them become involved in the community. If you are new to Florence, we welcome you and hope to get to know you so Our next meeting will be Chiropractic Care with Dr. Johnathan Davis from Pure Life Chiropractic on Tuesday, October 4th at 7:00 PM at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, 1900 Second Loop Rd. A Message from the President Let me just start off this month’s note with a, WOW! I cer- tainly hope that all of you enjoyed the ice cream/funnel cake social for our September meeting. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Cindy Stafford , our Vice President, for all of her hard work setting up our meeting and with so many fun games to try! I encourage everyone to visit George’s Funnel Cakes and support his dream. I am just dying to try one of his deep fried snicker bars! Thank you to all who at- tended our social. If you did not make it, I encourage you to pencil in October 4 for our next general meeting. We have put a lot of time and thought into making this year fun, excit- ing and informative. With that said, we say hello to October 2011. We welcome Dr. Johnathon Davis of Pure Life Chiropractic Center. There is going to be a lot to learn and participate in. I am really looking forward to learning some tips and tricks to live a healthier, maximized life! I also hope that all of our new members and guests will attend. We welcome you and are so glad to have met you. Please remember we will have our Attractions Fundraiser books available at the meeting. If you wish to take one or two on consignment to sell, we gladly appreciate your ef- forts. It is easier to sell it if it can be seen and held. This is also the month we will have our sign-up sheet for our annual Christmas Banquet. This year it will be held at The Peddler Steakhouse on Hoffmeyer Road in the old Benton’s location. We are in for such a treat and you will see a sample menu and receive specifics at the meeting. Lastly I would like to thank all of you for your enthusiastic support and response to our charity, Mcleod’s Children’s Hospital and NICU. Every penny counts! So keep them com- ing! We moved to Florence about 8 years ago from Ohio. My husband and I are both teachers. We teach in Sumter, SC. A Message from the President

Let me just start off this month’s note with a, WOW! I cer-tainly hope that all of you enjoyed the ice cream/funnel cake social for our September meeting. Where did you move from? We moved to Florence about 8 years ago from Ohio. My husband and I are both teachers. We teach in Sumter, SC. Profile, Continued What other activities do you enjoy? My favorite thing to do is to play with my children and spend time with my family. I am an avid bargain shopper and ga-rage sale person. I am a thrill seeker and an adrenaline junkie. I love riding motorcycles and going to festivals.

Any advice to share with new members that may help in their transition? There's never a reason to be shy because everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Notes from our Vice President

The November meeting is a Craft Bazaar! But......I need all reservations by October 4th meeting. Tables are first come first serve depending on what craft you have. We want to have several different crafts to buy! E-mail me or call 665-9017 to reserve your spot today!

Our Christmas Party is at the Peddler Steak House. The meal will cost $26.00 and sodas or tea, taxes and gratuity are included. We are accepting checks made out to Flor-ence Welcoming Club (FWC) for $26.00 due by our November 1st meeting. Our meat choices will be: Sirloin Steak, Marinated Chicken Breast, or Salmon Fillet with Caper Sauce. More information at the October 4th meeting!

I have created a Fan Page (Florence Welcoming Club) on Facebook that you can “Like” to keep up on the latest info. We have a Friends Page (Florence Welcoming Club) that you can be a friend of also.

Rita and Stacy show the features of our Septem-ber meeting, including the Attractions Coupon books. The Attractions Dining and Value Guide enables you to save significantly when you patronize various restaurants, retail stores, golf courses, theaters, etc. in our region. The FWC will offer these for sale at $20. For every 5 Attraction Books you sell, you get one free! This helps keep our dues at $15.
