Highlights of Autumn 1
Nursery
This half -term the children have settled well into our nursery. The children have had fun exploring and learning through stories and play. The children we excited to
explore the different environments when we role-played the story of, we’re going on a bear hunt. They have enjoyed drawing the different fruits from the story the very
hungry caterpillar and joining in with the repeated words of the story Dear Zoo.
KS1Reception
The Reception children have settled well into school. They have been enjoying the many different activities we have been exploring this half term. This includes
painting a self-portrait, making a poster all about themselves and talking about likes and dislikes. We have been doing lots of counting, writing sounds and words, and
exploring 2D shapes.Year1
We have had a busy and fun first half term in Year 1! We have thoroughly enjoyed our art topic making stained glass windows. We have been busy in Science with conducting lots of different experiments related to materials and their properties. We have been super
active in PE working on our gymnastics skills. Year 1 have been working hard on balancing, holding different shapes and jumping whilst showing a shape. We would also
like to thank all parents who came to the phonics workshop to further support your children's learning.
Year 2This half term, we have been investigating materials and their uses. We carried out an experiment to decide which material would make the best umbrella and used different materials to make a moving vehicle.
On our trip to Barton-Under-Needwood, we visited a church, an art gallery, a village hall and observed different cottages. We had a great time comparing how a village was different from a town.

KS2Year 3
This term year 3’s highlights include a visit from the rainforest man. Earlier this term the rainforest man visited our school and brought with him lots of exciting creatures and artefacts. We got to see how people in the rainforest hunted and how they slept. We also faced our fears by holding a tarantula and a millipede. Year 3 also wore yellow to mark mental health week and held mature discussions about the importance of our mental health. Another highlight has been our art work year 3 have worked hard to create rainforest print.
Year 4We have had a great start to the year! We explored a range of stories from other cultures and learnt lots about the Ancient Greeks. We really enjoyed making Olympic torches! We have developed our number skills in Numeracy. Having visited a Roman Fort, we are now excited to learn more about the Romans!
Year 5
We have had fun investigating the thermal conductivity of different types of material in Science and deciding which materials are best suited for their role. Also, as part of our artwork, we have used different media to draw Viking long ships. Fantastic work produced by all!

Year 6The children's highlight this half term has been our visit to the Black Country Living Museum. Year 6 enjoyed learning about and experiencing how life was during the Victorian era. We went into different homes, attended a Victorian class and even went for a stroll in the mines!
Harvest
24/10/2019
This year for Harvest we collected tins and packets for the Homeless Charity SIFA. The items were delivered to the centre by Mrs Sheard and Mr James. All of the items will help to feed the homeless people that attend the Centre in Birmingham. The Centre were very grateful for our donations. Thank you to all of you for your generosity.
