Description The 752V Series dispense valves incorpo-rate a unique inert polymer diaphragm that isolates theactuator from the valve and provides very fine flowcontrol for all low to medium viscosity fluids. Usethe 752V-UHSS, with UHMW* polymer wetted parts,for solvents, cyanoacrylates, anaerobics and fluxes.

OperationInput air acts on the piston and causes the UHMW polymer diaphragm to openand allow pressurized fluid to flow. The valve open time can be as short as 15milliseconds. The adjustable open/close stroke (0.005 to 0.025 inches) meansvery fast response and positive shutoff.

Piston valvesDescription The 725D Series dispense valves are designed

for precise application of medium to high viscosityfluids. The piston design provides a slight snuff-backat the end of the dispense cycle for positive fluid cutoff.These valves are ruggedly constructed, pneumaticallyoperated and feature a unique UHMW* polymer dia-phragm that isolates the wetted components from theactuator. The UHMW* sealing head provides longwear even with mildly abrasive fillers such as copperbrazing pastes.

The 725DA-SS provides stroke adjustment for bothfluid flow and snuff-back control. Valves may bemounted in any position. The 725D-SS version isnonadjustable and provides snuff-back control only.

OperationThe amount of fluid dispensed is determined by the valve open time, fluidreservoir pressure, size of the dispense tip and fluid viscosity. The 725DA-SSincorporates a piston stroke adjustment that provides adjustable fluid flowand snuff-back control. At the end of the cycle, the sealing head rapidly movesto the valve seat in the direction opposite to the fluid flow, creating a negativepressure that causes a small volume of fluid to be pulled back into the dispens-ing tip. This action provides an exceptionally clean cutoff.

Needle valvesDescription The 740V Series pneumatically operated,

adjustable needle valves are designed to apply very precisedeposits down to fractions of a microliter. Spring-loadedTeflon® needle packings compensate for wear and signifi-cantly reduce maintenance downtime.

The 740V-SS offers flow control adjustment to preciselydispense a wide range of fluids including solvents, sili-cone oils, UV-cure adhesives, inks and accelerators.

Use the 740MD-SS for microdot applications of mediumviscosity fluids using 22 to 33 gage dispense tips. Becausethe needle shutoff is in the dispense tip hub, there is nodead fluid volume in the valve.

OperationThe amount of fluid that flows through the 740V Series is determined by thevalve open time, fluid pressure, flow control adjustment (740V-SS valve only),dispense tip output size and fluid viscosity.

During operation, controlled pulsed air acts on the piston to withdraw the needlea preset distance from the needle seat providing exact, repeatable fluid flow.

OperationAir pressure acting on the piston shifts the spool to the open position, allowingfluid to flow. At the end of the cycle, spring force on the piston shifts the spoolto the closed position. During closing, a snuff-back is created, causing apositive, clean cutoff. The stroke limit stop adjustment is used to vary thesnuff-back amount and/or control opening surge. For very high speed cyclerates, use the double-actuating feature to ensure rapid closure.

The amount of fluid dispensed is determined by valve open time, fluid pressure,dispensing tip size and fluid viscosity.

Description The 780S-SS spray valve provides precise,consistent coating of low to medium viscosity fluids,including lubricants (oil and grease), activators andinks. Microliter to milliliter amounts can be reliablydispensed in round patterns with diameters rangingfrom 3/16 to 3.0 inches (4.8 to 76.2 mm) and in fanpatterns with widths up to 6.5 inches (165.1 mm).

The VALVEMATE™ 7060R24 (page 33) controlsthe 782R-24's motor speed, valve spray timeand fluid nozzle air at the dispense station.

OperationInput air pressure acts on the piston, retracting the stainless steelprecision needle from the nozzle and allowing the liquid to flow.Simultaneously, air from a tube in the rotor flows across the nozzle outletat a 70° angle, dispersing the fluid. The spinning rotor causes the sprayto sweep around and coat the inner circumference of the cylinder. Atthe end of the cycle, the needle moves into the nozzle seat, stoppingfluid flow. Nozzle air continues for a few milliseconds to ensure that allfluid at the nozzle is dispersed and to provide positive spray cutoff.

The rotor is controlled by the VALVEMATE™ 7060R24 to either turncontinuously, or turn on and off each cycle.

OperationAir pressure applied to the solder syringe reservoir forces solder paste into thepath of the auger inside the 790 valve. As the auger rotates, solder moves alongthe auger threads and is pushed through the dispensing tip.

The 7090 controller regulates feed pressure so that there is enough pressure tokeep the valve primed with solder without forcing it past the auger. Dispensetime is determined by adjusting the time control until the required deposit sizeis established, then storing that time in memory to make repetitive deposits.

Description The interactive VALVEMATE™ 7000 controllerputs complete dispense valve control where it is needed—atthe dispense valve. Use the 7000 to cycle the 752V, 725Dand 740V Series and 735HPA dispense valves.

Dispense time control is established by either empiricalprogramming or by setting known time parameters. Frac-tional increases or decreases can be easily made because of theexact time/output correlation for any given time/depositsize. Momentary input of 5 to 24 VDC from the hostcomputer or a dry contact closure initiates the dispense cycle.When the cycle is complete, an open collector circuit closesto provide an end-of-cycle signal to the host computer.

Description Microprocessor circuitry of the VALVEMATE™

7040 provides exact control to the 780S-SS spray valve toachieve exceptional spray pattern definition.

Built-in air pressure regulator provides Low Volume LowPressure nozzle air to ensure high transfer efficiency withoutoverspray.

Digital time is entered directly by push button. A singlecycle test button allows pattern verification. Clean cutoff isassured by a built-in adjustable delay in nozzle air shutoff.

Momentary input of 5 to 24 VDC from the host computeror a dry contact closure initiates the spray cycle. When thecycle is complete, an open collector circuit closes to provideend-of-cycle signal to the host computer.

Description The VALVEMATE™ 7060R24 controllerprovides nozzle air and drive motor on/off control for the782R-24 internal radial spray valve.

Unique microprocessor circuitry provides exact timecontrol, monitors drive motor current and interacts withthe host computer. Momentary input of 5 to 24 VDC fromthe host computer or a dry contact closure initiates thedispense cycle. When the cycle is complete, an opencollector circuit closes to provide an end-of-cycle signal tothe host computer.

The fluid reservoir component of the dispense valve systemis important to ensure consistent deposits.

Each EFD fluid reservoir is supplied with a constant-bleedprecision regulator to ensure constant fluid pressure tothe valve. The choice of 0-15 and 0-100 psi pressureregulators depends primarily on fluid viscosity.

Reservoir maintenance is simplified with a fully removablecover and disposable polyethylene liner.

Fluid can be poured into the liner, or the fluid containermay be put into the reservoir for direct dispensing.

Tapered tipsSmoothFlow™ TT tapered tipsare molded flash-free of polyethylene withUV-light block additive, supplied in 14, 16, 18,20, 22 and 25 gage sizes.

Chamfered stainless steel tipsPrecision chamfered stainless steel tipsare available in 18, 23 and 25 gage sizes(1/2" long). Chamfered tips provideexceptionally clean cutoff for microdepositsof low viscosity fluids.

The correct tip selection is very important to achieve proper performanceof dispense valves.

In general, the tip with the largest internal opening is the best choice.For most applications, 21 gage (0.020", 0.51 mm ID or larger is recommended.Where possible, the TT style tips are recommended forbest performance.

Properly selected tips will not create entrapped airthat can lead to dripping and oozing. EFD producesa very wide variety of tip types, sizes and lengths tomatch any dispense valve application.
