CERAMIC POROUS TILES

Fluidizing Filter Media

CARBORUNDUM UNIVERSAL LIMITED

CUMI ceramic porous tiles are made through a unique manufacturing process, tailored to meet the exacting requirement of fluidizing filter media applications.

Fluidizing filter media application is the process of separation of suspended solids from acidic, alkaline, corrosive hot liquids and gases that cause a high degree of abrasion. This makes it ideal for use in a host of user industries like chemical and dyestuff, fertilizer, refineries, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, cement, distilleries etc.

Ceramic porous tiles are made of fused Alumina grain held together in a ceramic bond with homogeneity of pores in the body structure resulting in following:

Optimum product performance during use Total stability up to 900˚C (due to high refractoriness of Alumina) Chemical inertness (does not react with the majority of acids and alkalis)

Filtration takes place in a nutshell. Ceramic Porous Media is placed inside at a distance above the nutshell bottom, supported by bricks and joined with acid proof cements. Slurry is provide into the nutshell. Ceramic Porous Media allows the liquid (filtrate) to pass though to the bottom of the tank, while the solids (substrate) remain on its surface. The filtered liquid is then carried away by pipes.

HOW IT WORKS

FEATURES CONVENTIONAL FILTER MEDIA

(FILTER CLOTH) CERAMIC POROUS FILTER

MEDIA

Filtration rate Slow; Area of utilization only 20% Fast; Area of utilization 50%.

Material loss 2-3% material loss Negligible material loss & Recoverable

Maintenance Cumbersome & expensive Simple and cost effective

Life 15days-6 months; High mechanical wear of cloth

2-10 years; High abrasion resistance

Resistance to Heat

Nil Stable at 900˚C

Pressure Loss High; Slower filtration No pressure loss; Faster filtration
