Flushing your Drainage Tube

Ensure you have all pieces. Either alcohol wipes or rubbing alcohol with cotton balls can be used for disinfection.

Wash and then dry hands thoroughly. Put on clean disposable gloves (A).

Wipe the white cap of the tube that comes from your body (B) 15 times with an alcohol wipe (D).

4Remove and dispose of the white cap on the prefilled saline syringe. Twist on the prefilled saline syringe (C) to the tube that comes from your body (B).

5 Push down on syringe plunger (E) to inject the saline into your body. Do not pull back on the plunger.

7 Dispose the empty syringe (C) into the garbage. Do not reuse the syringe.

6 Twist off the empty syringe (C) from the tube that comes from your body (B).

8 Remove and then dispose of the now used gloves. Wash and then dry hands thoroughly.
