INTRODUCTION The Flying Tiger Historical Organization, Inc. (FTHO), is a California non-profit organization, registered with the IRS as a 501(c) 3. We are seeking donations to develop General Chennault’s Command and Operations Cave and Park in Guilin, China

Our project, in cooperation with the Chinese, is to develop Flying Tiger Heritage Park and restore General Chennault’s Command and Operations cave located in Guilin, China. This will provide citizens of both countries, and the world, a first-hand opportunity to see, hear and understand the significance of what transpired in China during World War II.

BACKGROUND Beginning with this new century, China has recognized the contribution to the war effort and the friendship developed with the Flying Tigers. The first strong signal was when China erected a statue in Kunming, China to honor “Hump" pilots who lost their lives flying the Hump.

!Yang Tang 2004 from cave entrance. Larry Jobe and K.C. Ma have been bringing hundreds of USA travelers to visit General Chennault's Command and Operations Cave each year.

!In 2006, with inspiration and vision from retired Major General James Whitehead (USAF), we approached Chinese Government officials on raising funds to restore the Cave. The officials were receptive. In a letter dated December 21, 2006, the China International Culture Exchange Foundation invited the FTHO to raise funds to restore the interior of the cave as well as to raise donations of valuable and cultural artifacts.

"The attached pictures show how the cave is to be restored. It will be restored to its WW II livery, fully accessible to all visitors. These two

parts will cost about $400,000 USD, your donation can help make this a reality and is deeply appreciated..." (Note: Park project has now expanded to $3,500,000 with Chinese matching us 4 to 1.)

GUILIN IS THE GARDEN SPOT OF CHINA Guilin is well known as the garden spot of China and a favorite destination of Chinese tourists. It is also rapidly becoming a must-see for Western tourists. This desirable destination, with its ease of access, insures that the Flying Tigers Heritage Park will be available to all, keeping the legend of the Flying Tigers alive for decades to come.

FLYING TIGER HERITAGE PARK COMMAND and OPERATIONS CAVE Since 2006, the government has acquired all the land (over 120 acres) surrounding the Command and Operations Cave for developing the Flying Tiger Heritage Park.

In 2007, the Flying Tiger Historical Organization, Inc. (FTHO) was established to "Save the Cave", with James Whitehead as Chairman, Larry Jobe as President and K.C. Ma as Board Member.

On March 22, 2009, the Chinese government held a highly publicized ground breaking ceremony. This event was prominently featured on TV news stations as well as a number of newspapers in China.

CONTRIBUTIONS to GENERAL CHENNAULT's CAVE and PARK Your contributions are for the development of Flying Tiger Heritage Park and restoration of General Chennault’s Command and Operations Cave. The Chinese Government is matching our funds 4 to 1. Flying Tiger Heritage Park will include a museum, replica buildings, memorial walls, statues and General Chennault’s operations and command cave.

Lingui County is the overall Project Manager for the Flying Tiger Heritage Park Project. Our contributions are authorized though CICEF, a department of CICEC.

Mr. Gao Mr. Yuan Ambassador Cui

Former San Francisco Chinese Consul General Mr. Gao gave the FTHO exceptional support and the current Consul General, Mr. Yuan Nansheng continues to do so. The Chinese Embassy in Washington DC has also been very supportive.

The painting to the left is by Roy Grinnell and best depicts the feelings the Chinese have for the Flying Tigers.

Until the arrival of the Flying Tigers in December of 1941 the Japanese had bombed the Chinese at will. The Flying Tigers, under General Claire Chennault, put a stop to the indiscriminate bombings.

These “friends in the sky” are well remembered and revered in China today.

FTHO has purchased a large Giclee of this painting which was donated to the museum.
