Had FMP launch meeting with Paul Rossington (on Friday 8th) to discuss the justifiability of what I proposed doing. He agreed with my thoughts but suggested that I go for a wider target audience, which would include looking at possibly expanding to an older target audience.

Questionnaire was written up and firstly posted to an EA sports Forum. I did this because I knew that most people on there would be enthusiastic about sports and I would have more of a chance of getting a response from the people on here. I also printed out the questionnaires and I am currently in the process of handing them out and getting responses that way also.

Wednesday 27.02.13

I posted my survey on a general sports forum and collected the results from both forums I have posted too. I also got all my paper surveys back and analysed those. I collected 20 survey replies online and 10 on paper. I took the data and put it into a table so that I can see clearly what people were saying and how they answered the questions.

I then looked for bloggers email addresses that I could ask questions to. This was found to be more difficult than first thought, as I sent out 5 emails to different bloggers and only got 1 reply from those. The one reply explained that even though the main people who do read blogs are younger males, there isn’t a specific audience that they write towards. It’s more about the writing style and the quality of the blog. He also said that posting at least once a day is a must and should be timely with my posts. He said that he found that using humour and statistics in his posts are what readers of sports blogs like and want. Overall the email was definatly invaluable and very insightful about the audience profiling of sports blogs.

Thursday07.03.13

Pitched my idea to Paul Rossington. To do this I created a power point presentation that included all the collated results of my questionnaires, my research into current popular blogs, my email from the professional blogger and also my research into sport on TV and on radio.

Friday08.03.13

I looked into the legal and the terms and conditions of NBA.com and found out what they deem as acceptable to do. This includes reposting or linking the videos of highlights of games, onto my own blog. I found that they don’t see reposting any information from their site as acceptable but, within their T&C’s, there is no mention that linking the video to my blog but giving NBA.com all the rights to what I post that is there information.

I have constructed my budget and have found out that to get all the things I would need to do this would cost me at least £165 a week over 3 years to afford everything. The main part of these costing would be affording a car, insurance and fuel. The car and everything with it would cost me at least £70 a week by itself.

Wednesday20.03.13

My website layout is now complete. I decided on a green header and white for the rest of the blog. The green will attract people to it and want them to read on. I have also started to write my first blog post on the Barcelona vs. PSG match.

Wednesday10.04.13

I have posted my ‘welcome’ paragraph which will welcome people to my blog and explain my goals and what I will be posting. I have also posted my first review of the Barcelona vs PSG game onto my blog.

Wednesday18.04.13

I have now posted my second post, which is the Premier League week 33 review and I have also started to write my NBA Eastern Conference playoffs preview which will be posted by 19.03.13 but may be posted before if I finish it earlier. I am yet to hit a problem and all my posts are going up on time. I have noticed a slow incline in the unique viewers of my blog and every time I have posted it has risen by 5-10 people every time. I believe this number will go up the more I post.

Wednesday24.04.13

I posted my third blog post on Wednesday 18th instead of the 19th due to me finishing it earlier than I expected. It got a higher amount of people to my blog than my all the other posts combined. It was my NBA playoff preview that I posted and I also noticed that most of my views were late at night and less in the daytime. I believe it is due to the NBA having more of an appeal to people from the USA and because of their time zone it will have been mid-day in USA when most of them will read it.I also wrote and posted my ‘Manchester United Champions 12/13’ blog post. I posted this quickly because I knew it would attract lots of people to my blog the day after Manchester United won the Premier League.

A problem is that I have had to postpone writing my NBA Western Conference playoff preview because I knew that posting a Manchester United post was more current and would attract more people to my blog.

Wednesday01.05.13

This week I decided not to post my NBA Western Conference Playoff post due to the fact that by the time I would have written the article the first round of the playoffs was over for 2 of the 8 teams that I would be writing about. I knew posting this would not do much for views on the article as it was too late and fans where already looking forward to the next round of the Playoffs. Instead of posting, I decided to start to write an article of what was currently happening. I noticed that the ‘Team of the Season’ had been announced by FIFA, UEFA and the PFA association. I decided to post details of the team and give my opinion on a few of the players in the team. I didn’t give myself enough time to write about every player but I analysed the Defenders and Goalkeeper.

Wednesday08.15.13

The NBA Round 2 Playoffs started during this week and I started to write my Preview and Predictions in time so that I could get it finished in time and am able to post it before it was too late. I also decided this time to do both the Western and Eastern Conference in one post. This was because their where less games to cover and I also feel like I wouldn’t have enough time to write about them both separately. I am currently ready to post it and just waiting for the second round to start so that it will gather more interest by people who are following the NBA playoffs currently. I have also been planning my final ‘end of the Premier League season review and thoughts’ post. I have started this

now because it is coming towards the end of the season and I wanted to put more time into this post.

I decided that I will need some images on my site to create a more user friendly service. I found this difficult to do, as all the websites that had ‘copy write free images’ I would have had to pay for the image because I could access it. The image prices ranged between $2 - $15 for just one image. I did later find websites where I could access basic copy write free images for no cost at all. But I found a problem with this because the college internet server blocks any website that you can download anything from. This means that it blocked the websites with the free images because I had to download them to be able to use them on my blog.

I have also started to write my ‘NBA Free Agency Rounded up’ post to my blog. I decided to write this because in the NBA they are currently between the second round of the playoffs and the Conference finals. Since I have already covered the second round and I am yet to know the teams who are through to the conference finals.

Tuesday21.05.13

This week I finished and posted my ‘NBA Free Agency Rounded up’ article to my blog. I did not post this one my blog on the day I had written it because their were rumours that 2 of the players that I was highlighting would be signing or agreeing deals with new teams within a few days. After 3 days it turned out that the rumours where not correct and that

is when I posted my article. I didn’t want to give out ‘old’ or ‘incorrect’ information so I just decided to hold back on posting it for 3 days until I knew that I would be correct. This week I have also started to write my final evaluation and it will be finished by Friday 24th.
