SPOT PROCESS Engine

Enhance Red Orange

This feature extends the Red Separation Data to increase the range to enhance red/orange blendsand colors.

Generate Brown

This feature creates a specific Brown printing Separation. A close duplication to the Red channel, users may wish to adjust this Separation using the lighten adjustment sliders. Best advice is to properly adjust your color image “pre-separation” and allow Spot Process to create fantastic browns as secondary and tertiary colors without the need for this additional Separation.

Merge Gray, Merge Purple, Merge Turquoise

These features individually combine Separationss to reduce the amount of screens needed for the final print. Nothing is better than using the primary color channels on press for total control, but in timeswhen press space is limited, or budgets do not allow, then merging seps are a great way to save space and money while achieving great results.

Merge Gray is the best of the merge features, merging data to the final white channel. For the mostaccurate results it is advised to adjust the Gray Separationl (saturate data) before merging as the datawill be more subtle than the original Separation intensity. Saturating prior to merging allows the resultto be more accurate to the desired result.

Merge Purple splits the purple channel data between red and blue resulting in a blue purple change.

Merge Turquoise merges data to the blue Separation (closest related hue) resulting in a bluer sep.

Create Underbase

Also available as a button option in the software, both will open the Live Underbase PropertiesWindow (shown on next page).

TIP: Underbase settings can be EDITED and UPDATED.

You will be presented with a list of Active Separations. The Toggle will allow you to turn ON/OFFseparations determining when they are included in the underbase. APPLY TO ALL will set one choke value for all separations. Otherwise, keep Apply to All off and you can customize individual choke values. This unique feature delivers full control to the important underbase press screen.

ADJUST SEPARATIONS

Adjust separations is a Spot Process side (engine) feature only. Globally adjust multiple separations at the same time. Check and uncheck separations to be effected.

High Saturation: saturates color values darkening film positives allowing more ink to flow on-press.Low Saturation: removes data starting from the 1% data or lowest value present.

IMPORTANT: Use the Low Saturation slider on the White Top channle to allow for better color on press. Too much white tends to mute colors. Files that are not color prepared well to have morewhite data than needed and a small cut back using the Low Saturation Slider allows for better overall color. Start by changing the adjustment to 95. Overprinting more than 20% White has alarge effect on any color. For bright saturated color be sure to monitor and adjust the FINAL WHITE channel as desired.

Adjusting individual Separations is a more common work flow. A separate chapter is dedicated to color adjustments managed individually.

AUTO ADJUST

Auto Adjust automatically adjusts the full set of color channels using a predetermined adjustmentrange. It serves as a starting point for new users.

Spread setting grows the edge of separations to improve registration. Spread values are fullscales. Scales can be set from 0-2 pts.

PRESS FIT



SCREENS Window displays theamount of screens available on a pressor allowed for a press run.

The size of the press can be changed using the spin box (up/down) located in the center of the press illustration (2 to 16). You can set the press size inPreferences. Blank screens display a mesh pattern. Press rotate is set using the clockwise and counter clockwise icons located below the Screens.

SEPARATIONS displays all separationsin a file. Colors can be dragged to thescreens in the desired position andmoved as required.

Multiple colors can be dragged to a single screen. Those colors will be merged intoONE separation. Shift click, alt/optionclick, or click and drag to select anddeselect multiple colors in the SeparationWindow.

A PDF engine only feature to easily manage the amount of screens and screen position on press. Enjoydrag and drop functionality.

If a Static Underbase was created,the White Underbase would appearwith all other press in “Separations”ready to be dragged and dropped into a press position.

Drag a screen onto another merging the data into the Blue. Right Click to display the “Vertical Separation Blocks”. You are free to drag colors in and out of position with the exception of a Live Underbase that remains locked to position #1.

UNDERBASE AUTO POSITION

Creates an underbase not tied to or affected by edits/deletions made after the separations have been completed. Create Static is for those that like to eliminate printing two whites. By printing a white underbase you can now delete the second white bringing it back to a six color job.

Click a single screen (on thePress icon) to display only the separation in preview for that screen. Click between screens to reset the composite preview.

BACKGROUND Toggle lets you toggle between Neutral (gray) and Textile. Neutral helps improve previewing ofall colors (i.e. black ink).

UNDO/REDO Icons are located at the bottom of the Window. Blue means active.
