Patented knife clearance systemThe Marxman Triplex uses a unique mechanical system to maintain accurate clearance between the upper and lower slitting knives. (Pat. App.2012100370). This allows high speed blade transport across the slittershafts without the need for complex or slow mechanisms traditionally used to maintain knife clearances on similar machines.

Part Cut (optional).Unique to the Marxman Triplex is the clever Part-Cut system. The Part-Cut allows ANY slit part to be separated and cut to length independently of the adjacent slit parts. This eliminates the need for time consuming post operation “cutbacks”. The part cut function allows extremely complex nested cutting patterns to be produced with minimal manual effort.

Accurate Length ControlThe Marxman Triplex operates at speeds up to 30m/min (80fpm). Adjustable speeds andauto length calibration are standard. World famous Allen Bradley control system ensures long term serviceability worldwide.

High speed auto slitter knife positioningSlitter knives are automatically positioned by the machine to obtain minimum scrap. TheMarxman Triplex comes standard with 6 pairs of slitting knives which can be fully set in a little over 30 seconds. Simply load the feed material and press“Line Run”. The Marxman Triplex does the rest automatically.

Automatic Labelling (optional):The Marxman Triplex has the optional capability to automatically apply labels to each blank. This allows foreasy identification at downstream processes. The label includes a barcode that can be scanned at your SWI Simplex or Duplex folder to automatically load the folding program for eachworkpiece.

Incredibly simple operation:The 17” LCD touchscreen control is simple enough for even inexperienced operatorsto use. Job data can be entered on the machine, off-line in an office, or download your flashing details directly from SWI’s integrated folder software. Knife setting positions, label positions and part cut positions are all calculated automatically. Once a production run commences, the operator simply needs to monitor the progress and remove the scrap parts during the run. All machine functions can be operated manually, simplifying maintenance and troubleshooting. Furthermore, a Semi-Auto mode exists for basic high volume slitting and blanking.

Simple Cutting Depth Adjustment.Fast and simple adjustment of slitter knife overlap provides optimal slitting in a wide range of materials and thicknesses. The upper slitter knives can instantly be raised clear of thematerial when slitting is not required. Scrap minimisation software instructs operators when to disengage slitter knives to reduce scrap.

Electric Guillotine with hassle free gapping Smooth, quiet electric guillotine drive eliminatesmessy hydraulic systems. The guillotine incorporates a spring loaded clamp. The Marxmanguillotine gapping adjustment provides quick and easy adjustment of the guillotine blade gap from outside the machine.

Incredibly smart knife locking system.Introduced in 2011, SWI’s clever slitter knife locking mechanism provides super strong blade holding. Unlike older style systems, no keys or brass inserts are required. Thisunique design allows extremely free sliding movement of the unlocked knives while still ensuring a firm, square locked position.

* More knives can be added ** Marxman Junior does not include automatic length control

Simple slitter knife removal. The Marxman is well known for its effortless slitter knife removal. Slitter knives can beremoved in just minutes. Re-installing sharpened knives is equally straightforward. The built in shaft support holds the slitter shafts in place whileknives are removed through an opening in the side of the machine chassis.

Every time a coil is handled, it’s mass can be estimated by the ADSS. The mass is recorded in the material database so that it’s evident at the start of a production run whether or not a coil is likely to be exhausted before the job is finished. The ADSS can operate as an autonomous coil handling system, making it ideal for retrofit to existing high volume rollforming applications. Using internationally respected components such as Allen Bradley PLC control, SEW variable speed drives, Rexroth hydraulics and SICK safety systems, the SWI ADSS is built with long term serviceability in mind. Hardware used in the ADSS has specifically been chosen to reduce complexity and provide simple maintenance and troubleshooting. The ADSS

ADSS Uncoiler Specifically designed for higher volume applications, the SWI ADSS-Auto Decoiling & Storage System, can be coupled to any rollforming or slitting & blanking application for fast, automatic coil changes. When coupled with SWI’s Marxman Triplex, the slitting line will automatically instruct the ADSS which coil is required for the production run. The coil is efficiently retrieved from the coil farm by the ADSS and fed automatically into the Triplex. Special features of the SWI ADSS include the ability to handle coils without the need for any expensive mandrels. Coil spacing can be varied, so that a combination of large and small coils can be placed into the coil farm without wasting floor space. Typical coil change times are less than 2 minutes. During coil changes, process operators are free to attend to other tasks such as order management and preparing for the next batch run, which saves time and provides higher machine utilisation.

• Coils can be easily added or removed from the coil farm via forklift or crane

• Offline coil changes can be done during machine operation

• Fast and quiet operation. Faster than European models.

• Coil mass estimation.• Industrial Remote Control for manual

operation.• Reduced interaction with coils improves

Remote control for manual operation.A remote control is provided to conveniently operate all the ADSS functions manually for maintenance and servicing.

Fast coil changes. The ADSS uses simple hydraulic lift technology to quickly lift and lower coils . The “silent” hydraulic system has been specifically designed using the same technology used in common forklifts. The ADSS long travel glides along the rigid track with electric variable speed drive, just as used in modern gantry cranes. Mechanical brakes provide positive stopping, even in the event of complete power outage.

Safety.Danger zones are constantly monitored by the ADSS safety system. Using Safety Rated PLC controllers, the ADSS meets the strict requirements of Category 4 guarding. The light curtain system constantly monitors for obstacles in its path, while still allowing forklift or crane access to the coil farm during coil feeding.

does not require any special training and normal operational tasks are self-evident.Obviously, with such highly automated systems, safety is paramount. The ADSS includes rigid hydraulic piping to eliminate hydraulic hose failures. Robust CAT4 light curtains continuously monitor the ADSS movement zone and all electric motors have mechanical brakes to ensure rapid stopping and secure load holding should the machine shut down due to unplanned power outage.

Barcode coil recognition.Inventory control is simplified with coil mass estimations before and after each production run, as well as barcode linking between the ADSS and SWI’s Marxman Triplex. Every time a new coil is loaded into the coil farm, simply place the appropriate material specification barcode adjacent to that coil, and use the Marxman Triplex barcode scanner to register the identity of the new coil. Once it’s location is registered, the ADSS will always find the correct coil.

Reduced coil damageBefore each coil is loaded into the coil farm for the first time, coil bore protection is inserted into the coil bore to protect the inner wraps of the coil from damage during the rapid coil change process. It takes just seconds to install the inserts and they can be re-used time and again.

Simple coil change.Coils can be placed either by overhead crane or forklift. Visual guides on the coil stands ensure that coils are placed in the correct location. The exact position of the coil is not important as the ADSS can automatically side shift each coil to ensure accurate alignment with the downstream process prior to coil feeding. Unlike other machines, the ADSS can tolerate a moderate amount of coil telescoping by dynamically detecting the edge of the coil and adjusting accordingly.

FEATURES INCLUDE

On-board Rexroth hydraulics:Simple and reliable Rexroth hydraulic systems used on SWI’s hydraulically expanding mandrel uncoilers. The fully enclosed hydraulic micro packs do not require regular maintenance. Load holding hydraulic valves ensure mandrels remain pressurised for longer periods. Adjustable pressure settings allow adjustment to suit lighter and heavier coils.

Automatic speed control.SWI uncoilers can be provided with auto speed control for speeds up to 120m/min (300f/min). 0-10V analogue speed control provides rapid, smoothacceleration and deceleration to match any rollforming or coil feeding application. Choice of laser or mechanical sheet sensors provide the perfect solution for every application. Weighted demand arms are alsoavailable for thicker material applications.

Expanding mandrel systems use Deublin(tm): Rotary hydraulic couplings.Deublin rotary couplings are internationally regarded as the most serviceable hydraulic rotary coupling available.

Safe low voltage controls. All control elements, such as push buttons, valves, relays and indicator lamps all use low voltage 24VDC eliminating the risk of electrical hazard should electrical cables become damaged by sheet metal while in operation.

Integrated coil cars. Many of SWI’s uncoiler designs can be provided with integrated coil cars to 10 tonnes. Coil car safety features include narrow coil restraint systems, protection from over-pressurisation and speed limiting controls.

Clever guarding systems.SWI pay careful attention to the interaction between operator and machine. Guard systems are design to facilitate safe and efficient operation. As much as possible, tasks are performed from outside the guarded area, including maintenance and troubleshooting. This reduces the risk of forcing operators and service personnel to performdangerous tasks while inside the guarded area.
