CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE! Work on Delaney Hall is scheduled to begin soon after Easter Sunday. We expect to close Delaney Hall on Friday, April 21st until early July to perform the renovations that have been planned as part of our Capital Campaign Projects. Included in this phase will be the refinishing of the terrazzo floors, removal of the A/C duct work and the installation of mini-splits to provide adequate heating and air conditioning, new programmable lighting, sheet rocking and painting of the walls and the renovation of the kitchen area. It promises to be transformed into a lovely reception hall where we can gather for special parish events and parties.

A BLESSED EASTER TO ALL! I welcome our parishioners who are regularly with us and extend warm greetings to those visiting with us for the first time or here with a relative or friend for the celebration of Easter. “Happy Easter, everyone!” This is the day that we all have been preparing for since Ash Wednesday when we accepted the imposition of ashes as a sign of our commitment to enter the discipline of Lent so that we could prepare ourselves for the renewal of our Baptismal Promises on Easter Sunday through prayer, fasting, works of charity and “almsgiving” (support of the poor and those in special need at this time). The work of Lent has come to a close and now the work of Easter has begun. It starts with the renewal of our Baptismal Promises, which links us more closely to Christ and His Church, continuing His mission and ministry. How blessed we are to live in a culture that guarantees its citizens the right to the “free exercise of religion!” And while there have been some attempts by our government to limit that right, we experience a greater degree of freedom to do so than many people around the globe. During the Easter Season we will prayerfully read about the experience of the early church in grappling with the idea that Jesus truly rose from the dead. For many, including the Apostles, this was something that they struggled to understand. The resurrection appearances of Jesus to his Apostles were first met with fear and wonder. Gradually, they came to accept the Good News that, yes, Jesus had truly risen to New Life. We will also be given a glimpse in the readings from the Acts of the Apostles of the struggles and successes of the early church in both living and proclaiming this message. We will see what their life was like after the Passion, Death and Resurrection of the Lord? The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles on that first Pentecost would strengthen them to understand this mystery more fully. It would give them the strength and courage to go out to the world to proclaim the message of the Gospel: Jesus is Lord! Yes! The work of Easter has just begun!
