Before and after vaccinationTell the public health nurse if

• your child has an allergy or other health problem• your child has recently been given medicine or had other vaccinations• the mother has taken medicines that impair the immune system during pregnancy and/or

while breastfeedingAfter vaccination you should wait 20 minutes before leaving the health centre. Most children have little or no reaction after a vaccination but some can experience mild, short- lived reactions such as a fever, which usually pass within a few days. If the child has a temperature above 39˚C and/or poor general health, this can be a sign of a serious illness and is not necessarily a reaction to the vaccine. Please contact your doctor if you are concerned about your child.

Combination vaccinesCombination vaccines give protection against several diseases in the same injection. Some of the vaccines in the programme are given in this way. Children receive fewer injections and there will be fewer reactions at the injection site than when the vaccines are given separately.

Vaccination of school-age childrenYour child will be offered a booster dose of some of the vaccines at school. Vaccination against human papilloma virus (HPV) is offered in the 7th grade.

Overview of vaccinations All your child’s vaccinations are registered in the Norwegian Immunisation Registry SYSVAK. For a vaccine overview for your child, visit www.helsenorge.no

If you have any questions, please ask the public health nurse.
