How to register on a learning platform: Chamilo, find a course, register as a course student and

Step 0

• In order to finally upload a document in Chamilo:

1. You must be a registered user of the Chamilo learning platform.

2. After that, you must register or subscribe to a particular course

PLEASE give your document the exact name format that the teacher requests.

Requirements

• Your screen should look like the example below.

• This will help you do it quickly and easily.

• Therefore– Open TWO windows: one with this PPT presentation, and – Another with an online search engine (Google, Chrome, Internet

Explorer, Mozilla Fox, etc.)

Here are the four main steps you must follow, in order. The font

color will change for each step.

1. Register as a user in Chamilo.

2. Find the course.

3. Subscribe or register in the course.

4. Upload your document.

Each of these four steps or parts

has several sections.

THEREFORE…..

• This presentation is divided into four parts or STEPS.

Don´t get lost. Follow the colors.

• STEP 1: The font color is blue.

• STEP 2: The font color is red.

• STEP 3: The font color is green.

• STEP 4: The font color is orange.

PART 1

Register as a User in Chamilo.

Remember to write down your User Name and PASSWORD somewhere else. Remember which email you will use. They can be easily forgotten.

PART 1: Register as a user

A. Find www.campus.chamilo.org B. Change to ENGLISH and click Register.C. A form that needs completing will appear.D. Make sure that your user name looks like

this (including capital letters and no spaces): User name: RomeroDiana

Be careful! Chamilo is sensitive to capital and small letters.

E. How should I handle the rest of the blanks?a. The blanks with a red asterisk require completion.b. For your e-mail, you can use one you never open or

ask an adult in your family to lend you theirs, just in case.

c. IGNORE: Code, Phone, RSS and the Notify blanksd. Language: Englishe. Your STATUS or PERFIL is: Follow training or

Estudiantef. Country: Perug. You do not need to fill in your birthday or any other

information.

F. Click on Register or Confirmar mi registro

You will now see this message, and you must click on Next:

STEP 2:

FIND A COURSE.

The course name is:

By now, you have an account:

In any case…continue reading.

STEP 2: Find a course

Look for the Search box: Search

Type inside with capital letters: VM4ENGLIT2014

Be patient and wait for a while until the platform responds. Maybe 3 minutes… You can do something else meanwhile. There are over 31,000 courses.

You must expand the window in order to visualize the following link or dialogue box:

If you have found it, congratulations!

Go to the end of this step, STEP 2, and begin STEP 3, registering for the

course.

If you haven’t, try the following alternative routes.

THE FOLLOWING IS ANOTHER ROUTE.

• You will need to reduce the screen zoom to have a panoramic view of all the courses in the categories.

STOP!• Before you continue working with Internet,

here´s a tip.

• Reduce the Zoom to 50%

• This way, when you look for the course (there are over 2000 in some categories), it will be easier.

STEP 2: Finding a course

You need to see this list:

If you can´t see it, look for,find and click on the

Courses catalog link

and you will see this list.

Now, click on Display all, Other, Without categories, etc. executing your own search until you find the course VM4ENGLIT2014.Use Random pick to go Back.

• There are many courses in each category. It takes time to download. Be patient.

• The list is in alphabetical order.

• BUT… You are going to use the Search box to find:

Make sure your window is completely expanded so you don’t miss anything.

BE PATIENT! WAIT ABOUT 1 MINUTE.

1. Type VM4ENGLIT2014 in the Search box.

2. CLICK on Search the courses.

3. The course will appear after a while. Be patient.

STEP 3: Registering for a course.

1. When you are in the course box for VM4EngLit2014, click on:

2. Wait patiently. There will be a blink and you will be taken to the top of the page.

3. At the top of the page, this message will appear in a green box:

4. Find the top TAB that says My Courses and CLICK on it.

STEP FOUR: Upload or submit a document.

Step 4: Upload a document

• Click on your course: VM4ENGLIT2014.• Some of these icons will appear:

STEP 4: UPLOAD DOCUMENT

• A list of assignments will appear. Search for your assignment and CLICK on it.

Step 4: Upload a document

• You will now see a new set of icons:

• Click on the UPLOAD ICON (the one with the arrow pointing up):

• Now, simply follow the three steps of this section of Chamilo: 1. Submit, 2. Examinar or Explore and 3. Upload paper.

• Your document is now uploaded in your learning platform course.

• Practice logging in and logging out of the site. (It´s a free learning platform, in case you´d like to know.)

• Make sure you keep the email where they sent you your password.
